Amerika's Most Wanted

The US have released a list and a set of photographs of their 22 most wanted terrorists. In the UK, it was on several tabloid front pages- I would surmise that the same happened in the US. The stated aim is to 'expose' the terrorists.

Here's the catch: every single one is Muslim. We can all name white and terrorists- the Unabomber and Tim McVeigh leap to mind, not to mention the 'real' IRA. There are Basque separatists, Latin American drug cartels who assasinate government officials. Not to mention various terrorist organisations sponsored by the USA.

Obviously the US is concerned with Islamic Jihad, Al-Qaeda and so on. But someone really needs to give them some lessons in how to run a propaganda war. The tacit message of today's release is All Terrorists Are Muslim. Though the converse does not follow, it's going to be seized upon by those who wish to demonstrate that there exists a war against Islam. This would be Bad.

Not just "All Terrorists are Muslim", but on a purely visual level, "All Terrorists are Non-White Men."

Rush hour this morning was extremely disturbing with every single fucking newspaper plastered with mugshots of brown skinned blokes.

Funny this, exactly one month after the incident...

I could pretty much go with 'All terrorists are men', though.

but the point is they don't make the top 22.
For that matter ETA, FARC, R-IRA, NPA, Tamil Seperatists, etc, haven't been terribly active in the US, other than in fundraising. I'd imagine the Spanish, Columbian, etc top 22's would probably have different breakdowns, because there different people who are threatening them. McVeigh was a one shot, no criminal activity prior to OK, and the Unabomber was on the FBI's top 10 prior to apprehension, despite being by middle eastern standards, a talented amateur.

what the fuck evidence do you have for that? the Algerian terrorist revolution against France, to name just one group off the top of my head, was almost half women, hiding bombs behind their veils and in baby baskets, etc.

hence is was even more of a difficulty once the male Algerian government set about opressing their women, the same women who had fought by their side and undergone the same tortures under France.

Clearly what we need is an all-time terror top 100.

edited to address Mystery Gypt's post- what the fuck evidence do I have? none whatsoever. just a hunch. point taken though. I'll offer you 'most terrorists are men', mmmmmmkay?

This info is all pre-9/11 info, taken from The Truth About Terrorism by Ali Abunimah on pg 114 of Disinfo's book You Are Being Lied TO. It is an analysis of an American State Department report "Patterns of Global Terrorism 1999", which was published on May the 1st 2000.

"Of the 169 anti-US attacks reported for 1999, Latin America counted for 96, Western Europe for 30, Eurasia for nine, and Africa sixteen. The Middle East for only eleven, and Asia for six"

Despite this the report continued to refer to the Middle East as the greatest threat.

Make of it what you will but there is a long history of American government scapegoating in the Middle East.

And many terrorists are women. Call me old fashioned but I think women are capable of anything that men can do, positive or negative.
