Not yet. It's in its final storyline. The series has always been intended to end at issue #60: we're at #57 or #58 now (no t sure which--I pick it up in trades).

Actually, I reckon Transmet's been picking up a bit recently (still buying it like the sucker I am). S'pose that figures if it's coming to it's conclusion. The last issue I bought (can't remember the number) had a brilliant final page cliffhanger.

Transmet is picking up, but that's after it pretty much slid to a stop with issue #36. I don't feel exicted about the book anymore, and I have to blame Ellis for taking a story that would have been great at 40 issues or so and stretching it for an extra 20.

Of course, I also think that if he has time to post a kerjillion messages on his message board, he has time to do more issues of Plantery.

I'm just seeing nothing new in the script. Four issues of year four are spent covering a couple of days of a sniper and a storm and then Spider's illness. Fair enough. But then he finds out all his evidence is gone. Then, a couple of weeks later Royce finds it all again for him from elsewhere. Okay. Then they spend three months going after some prostitute. So yet another leak of information supposedly damaging to the president. More cool fascist imagery wank from Ellis. I suddenly realised that the Smiler is an incredibly dumb character with all the depth of a puddle, so therefore for me Spider's crusade is rendered unimportant and I no longer care. I'm now just buying the comic for Spider's burial back up at his shack and the communal pissing on the grave which ought to follow.

Yeah, all the supposed political intrigue and double-crossing is thoroughly pointless, when the Smiler is so clearly directly responsible for everything-bad-in-the-world he may as well wear a cape and go "bwa-ha-ha-ha"..

And wouldn't it make for a slightly more interesting / vital story if Spider toppled the president by revealing stuff about his evil & inhumane policies rather than .. dumb scandals about prostitutes and stuff.. It's like Ellis has decided that Spider's going to be the News of the World rather than Chomsky..

And it takes a pretty special writer to write about two years worth of comic that features almost no plot development and also no character development.

But I've done this rant before .. time to move on .. the last story arc's been quite good..

The future world of Transmet is so fucked up, to be honest I was surprised that paedophilia was still considered a crime (when presumerably paedo's could have little children grown at one of those 'bastard farms' in the same way the vice-president was grown) and similarly I can't see why who the President has shagged is supposedly such a big deal.
