My summer job

...Which, of course, you luvverly folk are going to help me find.

(Seriously, I know I've been doing this a lot lately, but the 'Lithers are pretty much the only people who can help mewith this kind of thing.)

Now, my project viva is in mid-June, after which I will be looking for gainful employment for the summer months. I'm mainly interested in freelance writing (fiction or electronics) which is pretty much my dream job at present.

(Having said that I'm open to any suggestion that doesn't involve taking my clothes off, getting arrested, or cleaning toilets.)

If anyone knows of anything that's coming up in the London area in mid to late June, could they please let me know? I'd really apprieciate it.

I was looking at the topic name, thinking "Hot Damn! Mordant's found a summer job already and it's not even summer yet! Go on, Girl!" but you fooled me.

Good luck on the work front – is there a job referral center at your school that can help you out?

There's a job referral centre, all right, but the nice woman I saw last summer hadn't heard of my degree and asked me if I could "fix broken televisions and things like that."

Bless.

Oh, BTW folks, I'm thinking of applying to the Ugly model agency for work. If anyone's done this kind of thing then input would be cool. I am, of course, a high-quality freak, but I'll be up against some of the finest scowling tattooed weirdos in the country.

I did some movie extras work with "Bovver Boots" a few years back (Judge Dredd, Hackers). It was fun, and the cash was good, but very sporadic. Then it turned out the guy who ran the agency had some very dodgy dealings in Holland or somewhere, and the company vanished.
I've been thinking of doing it again, though.

Stoat- that sounds cool. I used to know a guy who did similar stuff, and he had the same complaint; fun, but not very steady.

Ugly looks pretty interesting- I saw a documentary on them a little while back and they hire out people for all sorts of things (like the 300-lb guy who had a gig testing beds).

But I don't really know what they're looking for. I'm not that extreme appearance-wise, but then maybe 'tude is more important. Any tips, peeps?

BTW, if anyone's after bits and bobs for webzines or whatever and can't afford to pay money, now is the time to sidle up to me with an ingraciating smile and an outline.

I can't promise owt but since I'm trying to get my name plastered over as much of the net as poss., I'll definately give it shot.
