The 11th falls on a Sunday, so there won't be that awful "free gig in the park AND YOU'RE AT WORK!!!" feeling. (Although I work weekends...I'd better work out my sched so I can go!)

I'm seeing them in Manchester.

It's mad that they're doing T in the Park .. I heard they're 3rd on the bill or something, with loads of shite people like Ian Brown. The humiliation!

i'm most likely going to the philly show the night before. how much does the youth change up their set lists between shows (as in, will i see the same sy show twice...not that that would be such a bad thing...)?

How would one recognize Barbelithians on sight? Do you all have shaved heads, or emit an unnatural glow, or have demon familiars perched on your shoulders? I might consider coming if I knew what I was looking for.

Utopia, you will not see the same SY show twice, though you are like to see about 60% of the show twice. This is the Sonic Youth concert chronology. It is your friend, and has setlists for every show the bands plays, including every date they've played thus far this year.

The odds are even that you will hear all seven of the songs on Murray Street. It's fairly likely that you will hear some of these songs: Bull In The Heather, Kotton Krown, Eric's Trip, Candle, Kissability, Kool Thing, Drunken Butterfly, Shadow of a Doubt. You also have a chance of hearing these songs, but slightly less so than the others: Skip Tracer, Making The Nature Scene, Inhuman, Silver Rocket, Nevermind (What Was It Anyway?), Side2Side, White Kross, Tom Violence, The Burning Spear, She Is Not Alone, Mote. They will most likely add more songs on the US tour.

Perhaps everyone can just jump on here the night before and detail what distinctive items they might be wearing or any other distinguishing characteristics. Though as I'll be fresh off of visiting my 95 year old grandmother I could be in a cardigan and on a walker.

Here's the info you'll need - where to be, what time, who the opening acts are.

I should be there maybe around 1:40 or so, I think.

Right now I'm thinking I may wear a white collared button-down shirt, oversized, covered in day-glo Southwestern Native American-type designs and white jeans.

Unless I don't. But I probably will.

Just an addendum to my wardrobe: I'll also be wearing a light grey t-shirt with an image representing Basque separatists, and silver mirrored goggles. I'll be hard to miss.

Well. Hmmm.

I was there, and sat on the big rock outside the stage, since by the size of the line I could guess that there was no way in hell I was getting in. Got there around 2:30, probably stayed until about 5:30, as I got bored and my ass got numb from sitting on rock. Sketched in my book for most of the time, petted some big dumb dogs, and scoped the hotties. Actually, I feel it was far more productive than it sounds.

Obviously I was the only one who gave any sort of description of what I'd be wearing. Anyone spot me?

What a great show!

Wish I could have found some of you there. I looked for blank badges and found nothing though. I saw one guy in an X-Men shirt, and I was gonna ask him if he was from barbelith, but I figured he would have looked at me blankly. Lots of people wear X-Men shirts at Sonic Youth shows.

I was the girl in the pot bandana dancing and head banging all whacked like. I shouted out a bunch of shit with my friend Matt.

"Play that song that I like. It's my favorite one. It reminds me of my girlfriend." -Matt

Well, I've a proposal for NYC area peoples, though this one costs money and is outside NYC, so I guess there's even LESS chance of meeting up, but for shits n giggles, here 'tis:

My sister, her husband, their son, my roommate and I will all be attending the NY State Renaissance Faire in Tuxedo, NY, this Saturday. I know you're all so cool and would just go to kick the asses of anyone who refers to you as "thou" or "my lady" or "my lord." Nope, not a single SCA alum among you, I know this. Nevertheless, as there are crafts and foodstuffs aplenty, not to mention a whole gallery of tarot card readers and various other streetcorner hierophants who a well-trained mage could show up, I suggest that anyone with money to burn (hahahahaha... oh, my wallet hurts) come on up. There are buses leaving from the Port Authority all day, and we'll be arriving early. I will be dressed distinctively: not in "garb," per se, but sort of a stylized anachronism. I will give more details if there's an interest, and even start a separate thread, but right now I'm just testing the waters. How say ye?

(Away put your weapons!)
