I've spend all day at a class learning how to take my bicycle to pieces and put it back together - ideally with no vital bits left behind on the carpet.
I was meant to be going out tonight but by the time I got home, covered in oil, I just wanted to flop.
But now I'm bored and hoping there's someone about.

Covered in oil? mmmm...

I've been checking in occasionally, but it looks like everyone's got better things to do than be online today. I'm sitting alone in my store and wishing much evil on everyone who walks past without coming in.

Zoom.

Hurray - people to talk to. Most of the oil is gone now, though D. Sorry.
And Zoom, I hope lots of them come in looking for super expensive stuff soon. I would, but it's a bit far. And I'd get them all black and oily.

Tomorrow should be good. There's a meet in town with Videodrome. He's here from Australia (I think?) and it'll be cool to see everyone.

There's a bunch in now, but you can always tell the ones who will buy and the ones who are just waiting for their pizza to be ready.

I have such a mess here that I really ought to be cleaning up, but my motivation is at an all-week low.

Even typing is an effort .

Went garage sailing this morning and came across about $300 worth of old Dungeons and Dragons stuff that I picked up for $15. I love when that happens.

Damn you lucky people and your wonderful garage sale finds. I never find anything worthwhile.

Ariadne

I like the idea of 'garage sailing', it sounds very pleasant.

Do you have a reasonable base of people who come in every week or two, or are you dependant on the pizza-waiting people buying stuff?

I'll risk sounding like your mum here, but tidying up might make you feel better?

Captain Zoom
19:16 / 18.05.02
Sounding like my Mum and my Wife, actually. I'm having a garage sale in a couple of weeks, so the tidying is actually sorting through stuff to put out in the sale. The trouble is I've nowhere to actually put the boxes of garage sale stuff 'cause I've no room, which is why I'm having the sale in the first place.

I do have regulars, they just don't seem to have come in this week. It's a little distressing. I just keep telling myself that it will all pass and things will get better. Small comfort at the moment.

Trijhaos, I'd actually resolved to give up the "sailing" (which really is pleasant. We've got all sorts of rules and terms for garage sailing. Thinking of putting up a website and rating sales, etc. if we're feeling silly), but I chanced it today and it paid off. Yay me.

Oops, getting busy in here so I'd better go.

Rating sales?

Kind of like this ?

I've noticed the best sales are the ones involving two or more families. You've got a better chance of scoring something.

Garage sales are big in New Zealand and I have a friend who gets up at some insane hour every weekend morning (a teetotal friend, I might add) to trawl round them and come back with, to be honest, piles of crap.
I went with her twice but, really, most people are just selling garbage.
There's a town in the middle of the the north island (sorry, can't remember its name) that has a huge town-wide garage sale every year. Every single front garden has a stall covered in rubbish. Which is entertaining, though I still didn't find anything worth buying.

Are the garage sales in London? Does anyone know?

I'm here, wasting my Saturday at my job...right now I have given the residents their snack and am waiting to go home. I'm also reading the second issue of CrossGen's compliation comic...and some fo the stories are just hard to slog through. That much generic fantasy at once is hard to take.

Not much activity on the board in the areas I haunt...and I'm tempted to start a few topics, but my inherant slackitude is keeping me from doing it.

What time can you go home, Rose? And all areas of the board seem quiet tonight. Obviously everyone else is out having a wild time.
I, however, now know how to adjust the indexing on my derailleur mech, so who needs wild nights out? Hmmm.
I'm saving myself for the Videodrome thing tomorrow. Are you in the UK, Rose?

Went to a sale last week that was 3 whole streets, huge turnout. I didn't find much, but I'm a little more selective. I'm trying to complete my Rush albums on vinyl collection, and any RPGs or cool books get picked up for the store, but that's about all I look for. And we go at insane hours too. Up at 7 this morning, and every morning through the summer. Now if I could just manage to get up early on Sundays and start playing squash again I'd be alright.

Surely you can play squash without getting up early on Sundays? You need a rest once a week, at least? I certainly don't plan to get up early tomorrow. But I do want to go for a bike ride and i think it's going to be thundery, which is a bummer.
Is it warm in Canada yet?

Captain Zoom
19:59 / 18.05.02
I wish. It was -1 celcius last night. We had a couple of really nice warm days last month and now it's back to autumn temperatures. Driving me nuts, it is.

I was, through the winter, playing squash at 9 on Sunday mornings. My son's up early anyway, so I may as well let Tara sleep in and go exercise. Trouble is my brother, who I was playing with, decided he neede sleep more. I like sleeping in, but I can take it or leave it really.

Was into the bike riding, but the first time I went out this year my back wheel broke apart and all the bearings came out. I'll probably have to get a new rear wheel, so that'll have to wait for a while.

Guess it's back to puch-ups, sit-ups and vigorous sex. Darn.

Hey all, just settleing down for a evening of work..
How are all you lovely folk?

Hello Uncle R, how's things?

And Zoom, having spent a big chunk of today playing about with bearings and other axle-things, I wouldn't think it would be a huge job to fix? Or a huge cost to get fixed?

Though your planned exercise regime sounds admirable.

And minus 1??? Holy fuck. It was 25 ish here the past few days, and I'm pissed off that it's going back to around 17.

Captain Zoom
20:24 / 18.05.02
Yeah, this is what's pissing me off. Like we had some lovely 30+ degree weather a few weeks ago and now it seriously feels like snow would not be out of place.

As for the bike, it looks like the cap that holds the bearings in and holds the axel on has come off and I'm not sure it would be easy to replace. But to be dead honest I haven't gone anywhere to inquire as to the relative ease of a fix. I'm so flat broke right now that even garage sailing is a big financial question.

Though I just sold a couple of the things I got this morning for $25 each, thereby making back my money 3 times over. And I've still got a whole bunch left to sell. Every now and then this place really feels like it's working.

And uncle R, though I may sound whingy, everything's just fine.

Zoom.

I'm here, having a break from my bed. started getting sore. my bed seemed appealing to me after i was trying to work - but had no idea what to do - so merely sort of gave up after accomplishing, well, nothing really. i made some of my goals, but i set them so low it doesn't matter. but it is some sort of mental reassurance. um.

i might go back to bed now. groundhog day's on! woo!

God Glint I had no idea you were Pin.

I get to go home in about an hour, and I'm the Great Midwestern US, so I can never make it to any of the Barbemeets.

I was pin, but then both my modd cahnged and, a wqeek later, Pin got eaten so i came back with a new suit. That was in, like... Janurary.

Um... now I've had a shit day. When I left work my manager was in tears and I'd cost them, like... £50, or something. I don't know. What happens if you fail to frank a £30 cheque that's been mangled by the printer?

That's aside from failing to give cashback and fucking up change. And selling people the wrong vegetables and, like... totally fucking up barcode canceled's.

I dunno... maybe supermarkets aren't for me.

And this comes on top of my exams starting on Monday and a whole load of personal shit that (lucky you!) I'm not going to tell you.

I spent the day at work.

I have 1356 emails to go through since the guy who used to do them got fired, unsuprising since he never seemed to do anything. Came home early because i felt too tired after having onnly 6 hours sleep in two days. (Bastard Oasis liking flatmates who play air guitar).

Still i managed to do about 67 before i left, which is more than he ever did.

This is how i will be spending my summer.

I hate the weekends, all my flatmates run off home.
