Not sure whether to be flattered or insulted...

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

New woman at work, the other morning in the pub, said to me (after hearing me arguing passionately about Star Wars/comics etc...)... "that's really cool. You're 30, but you've still got a real sense of wonder, haven't you?" (in a very sarcy tone of voice).
Reminds me of my old boss, when, seeing me get really excited about a bunch of dumb shit, said: "Fuck. Every day must be like Christmas for you."
And an old flatmate, who said all men were six years old. Except me and one of my friends, who were four.
Am I just a kid really?
And, if so, is that a bad thing?

I'd guess 'Insulted'...

The other morning in the pub?

If it makes you feel better, they're probably just bitter people who've forgotten how to have fun and are too wrapped up in proving themselves "adult". They're jealous.

why bother feeling insulted by a moron who has forgotten how to have fun?

Hell - be flattered. She doubtless meant to insult you, but the things she said about you are pretty positive - a sense of wonder is a precious thing. She's just too jaded to see it...

Perhaps you should ask her what she feels 'Ally McBeal' and 'Sex in the City' have to say about her life...

I see it as a bit like 'science-fiction', both terms are used these days as a derogatory term but when you look at it, being considered 'child-like' should be seen as a compliment...

Hmm. Next time you hear a comment like that, ask her what she's into, entertainment-wise. I bet she doesn't say "Oh, watching World in Action and reading Noam Chomsky".

pffhtt. I routinely get called things like "pollyanna", etc. it only irritates me because people seem to think its so clever to be bitter and unhappy, and everyone else is a clueless moron.

let them be sour, and carry on enjoying the world. if they persist in attempting on pissing on your parade, go on and show em that even pollyanna is capable of kicking an ass or two

It all depends on how you take it. Whether she meant it to be insulting or not, take it as a wonderful compliment and watch her brow knit in perplexity.

Although if you're still keen on Star Wars after seeing Attack of the Clones, I worry ...

[nitpick]Actually, the origionators of that saying would have been The Dictators. Well, more than likely. Or not...[/nitpick]

Lada: "Perhaps you should ask her what she feels 'Ally McBeal' and 'Sex in the City' have to say about her life..."

Fuckin' A.

All the ladies I know: SITC Box-setarama.

"But it's really adult, it deals w/ relationships in NY and everything..."

Nerds.

SITC is less realistic than Star Wars anyway.

At least you're childlike and not innocent. I'm always told I come across as innocent and sweet until said person sees me completely wasted and then they decide to tell me that they thought I was innocent until that moment the 'switch' happens. Sinister isn't it!
