Could we use a place to gather up all the archived Nexus pages, Barbelith threads, and general "memories?"

What were the stand out threads? (Deva and Slash v. Nick and The Body Fictive?; Political Correctness Gone Mad?) The memorable incidents? (Elmo?; Twart?) Defining Moments? (September 11?; Banning the Knowledge?)

What can we point to that makes Barbelith Barbelith?

any thoughts?

Twig the Wonder Kid has already archived loads and loads of old "Nexus Black" threads on his website. Not sure of the address, though.

When I thought someone might be watching, I used to read threads by copying the whole thing and then pasting the text into an email or wordpad doc, save it and read in bits. Might have some still knocking about in text form somewhere, I'll let you know. I'm pretty sure I've got the 'Castles in the Air' threads from a couple of years back, if anyone's interested.

I've got loads of our collective fiction & poetry stuff saved as word files, along with many outpourings of the inestimable 'Bosun' and a document of random Barbelith bits that I've just copied and pasted whenever I felt the need to..

As for defining moments, I think you've gotta go old skool.
Who remembers the last issue of The Invisibles coming out? The Grant Morrison meet at Point 101? The (in retrospect extremely boring) Technoccult saga? Ian Jones coming first, second and third in the official Barbelith poetry contest? and sacrificing his dog? That whole phase where the place went fluff-mad and we yakked endlessly about sex toys and scooby doo at the expense of all else? Endless pontificating about the subversive merits of The Matrix and Fightclub? Al Spade?

Ahh.. I could go on all morning .. hey, where are you going?

The first potlatch thread, which I intended to calm things down by getting everyone to confess their conversational wrongdoings aboard Barbelith, and which became a manic self-confessive orgy with any number of remarkable admissions about the real world.

Al Spade.

Ahh, Al Spade.

Just thinking about him yesterday, I was.

The poetry slam thing was cool too - the first multi-suit problem, only infinitely more fun.

I was looking for the Matrix and Fight Club threads the other day, alas, they're gone. I'd appreciate any and all of the above if y'all wanna send it.

Or, take the time to write out yr mrmories in detail. History is constructed; here's yr chance to be part of the foundations.

My main memories:
Sunspot-flarin' '99, dissecting every issue of the Invisibles vol. 3 as it came out, annotating panel by panel...
Confusing grant for Grant Morrison...
The real Grant Morrison's one and only post...
The afore-mentioning pontificating on Matrix & Fight Club...
Deciding I knew something about magick and starting The Johnson Family...
Casting sigils for people on the complete opposite end of the world...
"Eggheads & stoner motherfuckers," ahhh, sweet validation!
"If you're the Antlerhead that just got out of high school, nobody achieves the kind of stuff you do with magick that quick, your karma must have some nasty stuff in store for you..."
September 11, Peace Mango...
Sarah Payne and the "if magicians exist, why does this kind of thing happen?" conversation...
Meeting up with Stephen, Gibreel and Sleazenation at Point 101–everybody had shaved heads! (I had shitty-orange locks) Drinking legally for the first time and talking chaos; walking around later to all the sites from From Hell... sitting on William Blake's grave and channeling Horus energy, wow, what gives?
Meeting likeminded crazies!

Ummm... That was me. I was kidding, honest. (I thought I made it suitably kiddy-sounding, but then I misjudge these things A LOT.) I was just pretty impressed by how much you seemed to have accomplished, and wanted to say so in a way that didn't sound too brown-nosey or patronizing. Sorry.

Ah, I took it as a compliment (in a weird kind of way!)
It's all giggles here.
