Subscriptions being cancelled

About once a week now for the last couple of months on Barbelith I've been seeing that people's monthly donations via Paypal are being cancelled. Frankly this is a worry to me. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

I know why mine got cancelled- my bank screwed up my credit-card payments and the fucker got cancelled.

The thought occurs that perhaps we need another subscriptions drive- threads in other forums (fora?), emails, whatever.

How would I set one up, and what would be a suitable amount? Is a couple of quid a month okay for low incomers?

Oh, I forgot, mine has been cancelled. I have no idea why, sorry. Is it because I thought I'd signed up for the foreseeable future but there was actually a time-expiry on it? (That might explain why there's a little burst of them, because I think I signed up at the same time as a few other people...)

In the meantime I'll just restart it.

I think I got some spam which I didn't really read from Paypal saying they were changing their procedures due to security problems. I didn't really pay attention because I manually transfer the money each month. I think that all that can be done is to ask people who donate through Paypal to check that their subscriptions are actually still in place.

(And any London 'Lithers that don't use Paypal can give me cash on Sunday as ever)

but its a good thing you mention it, Im not even together enough to notice if the moneys coming out of my account.

I agree you might want to try to raise awareness - some people may think you dont still need it, forgotten that you ever did or why, or may have even missed the whole request altogether. bring it up, man!
