Why would the hijacker put that stuff in his luggage?

there's been a lot of reporting about the bags that mohamed atta tried to pack onto the plane he hijacked. they contained a will, a set of instructions, a koran, a flight computer, etc.

apparently, the bags were mishandled and didnt make the tranfer from the portland flight to the hijacked plane. which in itself is pretty goddamn amazing.

knowing that he was going to crash the plane, why did he think he should pack all this stuff -- which wouldnt be accessible to the traveler anyway -- onto the plane?

I heard it was found in his car in the airport parking lot - like it was what he'd been reading right before heading onto the concourse.

Still, yeah, it seems *awfully* convenient that all that would be together.

it's funny... on the 11th or 12th evening i remember them saying they had found in a car a koran and and fuel calculator, etc etc. but the washington post says:

quote:The document was found by the FBI in a suitcase that Atta had checked for the flight from Boston to Los Angeles but that was never loaded aboard the plane. The will's existence and contents, preliminarily translated from Arabic by the FBI, were publicly confirmed for the first time in an FBI affidavit unsealed Thursday in Maine and released yesterday in Washington by the Justice Department.

In the same suitcase was a separate five-page letter that instructed the hijackers how to prepare for their last day of life -- including advice to bring along their wills. That letter was first reported in The Washington Post on Sept. 28.

i dont wanna be totally paranoid but... it's REALLY convenient, isnt it?

I thought the same thing as well. I don't like being in the conspiracy mindset, but if *I* needed to have instructions for a plan to take over a plane, I would probably want them in my carry-on luggage.

But a written plan...for something you knew would take your life and be THAT important...I don't care how messy my memory is, I think I could remember it.

As with all wars, however, propoganda is as much a part of the battle as missiles and troops. And with Ari Fliesher saying that we should watch what we say and not question our leaders...

It stinks of propoganda to me. And the media isn't even questioning it because they no longer know how to dig into stories like this.

I would assume that if you were hijacking a plane, you probably would already have read the flight manual...and a copy of the Koran?...the word convenient truly does fit here. it seems to me that there are lots of little discrepancies like the car/baggage thing. i remember watching them tow the car the stuff was "found" in live on 9/11...weird.
