Just to let people know that the cheapie Bookshop on Victoria Street (the one near Sainsbury's and the V. Shop) is selling The Illuminatus Trilogy and Slow Chocolate Autopsy for £3.99 each.

Just so's you know where to look :

Slow Choc Autopsy is in the 'new titles' section (on your right as you enter the shop)
Illuminatus trilogy is at the far end of the display table which is directly in front of you as you enter the shop

Didn't look too closely, but there seem to be a few copies of each, and they look to be in decent condition, etc.

Just thought I'd share -

'SCA' is one of the few books that I've never managed to read all the way through. I just can't get it at all. I struggle through a few chapters thinking 'any minute now I'll click with this guys style' only... I don't.

I agree, to be honest - gave up on it after about four chapters, despite the purdy McKean artwork.
Ah well.

But, ooh, the Illuminatus! Trilogy for £3.99 can't be bad. Thanks, DBC.

the Illuminatus! Trilogy... can't be bad

Are we talking about the same Illuminatus! Trilogy?

"And then I had sex with a hot black chick and then I found out about some conspiracies and then I became someone else and then I had some more hot sex and then I found out about some more conspiracies..."

Repeat for 40000 pages. The End.

Ah, I quite liked it... sorry, that may very well make me a bad person. Bits of it are good fun... and bearing that in mind, 4 quid for that huge book is pretty good.

I liked the Illuminatus books - though paying cover price (£9.99?) for them was a grrr when I saw them on the cheap, but (shrugs).
I only read them recently, and read one, then something else, and then another and so on, and that worked pretty well - better than I think it would have for me if I'd read them in one swell foop, to be honest. And I was amazed at how much of an influence the series had clearly been on the Invisibles - I know everyone here'd been saying so for ages, but still...
