Seeing as we went all OT in the conversation on this, I thought I'd put a thread in here for people to discuss it wihthout feeling bad for not talking about travel.
Box of Delights rocked bells, for me. The title sequence terrified me when I was four, but other than that, I've rewatched it most years (owning the tapes) almost every other year. It's great, the effects aren't as bad as I thought they might be, now having the hindsight of CGI, and it just... works. Of course, I always wanted to see The Midnight Folk, but it would be prohibitive to do on BBC budgets...
But yeah. It's really great to watch on Boxing Day, really. And the BBC won't make stuff like that any more. Ever again. Unless they come up with BBC4-Kids. Which I feel would be a really minority market... |
