Yes, damn it! Why does Ursa Prime have no Smiths disco?

Although apparently there is a club night somewhere in London where the DJ area is mocked up to resemble a student bedroom, and he plays records from his bed, and he spins top quality morose polite tunes...he used to do 200 awkward teenagers(?), which is a good sign.

They're only every two months, I'm afraid, so it's now or July. (Actually, I haven't even seen any posters for it yet - I'm just going on the flyer they handed out at the last one. Hope they haven't cancelled. I should probably check before buying any narcissi.)

Further, I'm too grumpy a bugger (in too small a house) to offer to put any of you London types up. This is all sounding more implausible by the minute...

Tsk! I just said, it coincides with my birthday!

I'm not actually 100% sure when (or indeed if) it will be going ahead, but it should be the second or third Saturday in July, the 20th I think.

If it's the 27th, I'm screwed - oh the irony of my life, you spend years waiting for a slash conference and an all-smiths disco and then they both come along at once...

Is anyone planning to head Quo-Vadis-wards in Leeds on the 25th January to wish the two-monthly(ish) Smiths night, Panic, an unhappy second birthday?

The following night my girlfriend and I will be disappearing Thailand-wards for a, er, "holiday", so it'll be quite a while before we'd have the chance again. I think we can more or less guarantee three Barbelithers (tho' one a lurker) there at least...

Just a reminder that the all-Smiths Disco is tomorrow, to anyone who might have missed this the first time around. We'll be there looking... indie. And, as Dead Flower mentioned, probably drinking cheap alcopops, for that added cool.
