Pitchfork reviews mail bomb suspect's grunge band

Josh Scott, an employee of the studio where Sacks of People was recorded, notes that Helder was roundly ridiculed for his flannel wishes and fuzz-pedal dreams: "We mocked him all the time, [but] not to his face. He totally dressed the part, his hair and his voice," Scott recalls. "Everyone said, 'Nirvana, give me a break, this is 2000.'" Indeed, Helder reportedly gushed on Apathy's website: "I'm a huge Nirvana fan. I really am quite infatuated with this band. I know everything about Kurt... Try me, hahaha."

The Unabomber is like *so* 1990s....

A guy at work was playing some Apathy tracks off the internet yesterday. Sounded... serviceable.

I just downloaded a couple, and I really can't stop laughing at how the guy sings - in the space of a few SYLLABLES he will switch off between an impression of Layne Staley and Kurt Cobain, and occasionally veer off into some crazy country-yokel accent. Weird!

Isn't 'Apathy' just the *perfect* name for a bad grunge/slacker band?

And I think I'll call my auto-biography "flannel wishes and fuzz pedal dreams".
