I feel bad doing this as I don't really use the books forum. But could someone recommend a good book on Chaos theory nothing too complicated though.

There are so many out there its hard to know which one to pick, but I'm in a book buying mood this month.

Thanks

James Gleick has a good book out, not too hefty, seems to be directed at the layman+.

Chaos: Making a New Science by James Gleick looks pretty good.

If you're looking for something along the lines of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Chaos Theory or Chaos Theory for Boneheads, there are a few good webpages out there.

The "Understanding _______ " Series is very good. There's one on chaos that I've read that's general and quite helpful. There should be a section given to these books or you'll at least find them under the appropriate headings. Actually, as far as book recommendations go, this series is great...nice illustrations, comprehensive looks into the topic, wide range of topics...

Also try Ian Stewart's book(s?) on chaos theory. oh and M. Mitchell Waldrop 'complexity'

avoid Mandelbrot's 'fractal geometry of nature' and Barnsley's 'Fractals Everywhere' - they're academic books.

also (slightly tenuous connection with this one) Terrence McKenna'a 'the invisible landscape' (if you haven't read it already - mucho barbelithesque book)
