so with Raimi's success on spiderman, Hollywood could well be greenlighting any project that comes along. And even indie directors will be lining up to do them, so what would you like to see and who do you want directing it?

Joss Whedon at the helm of Doctor Strange???

Quentin Tarrantino's "The Justice League"??? (Havery Keitel as the Martian Manhunter)

Terry Zwigoff directing Robinson's Starman???

Should Whit Stillman be working on Shade the Changing Man???

Maybe Merchant and Ivory on the golden-age Sandman???

What do you want to see?

My big secret fanboy wish: Cameron Crowe directing Green Lantern starring Ben Browder (Farscape) as Hal Jordan and Kate Beckinsale as Carol Ferris. But I can't figure out who plays Sinestro....

Timothy Dalton all greened up for Sinestro, perhaps?

He 'd look stupid enough...

the guy who did the Aquaman short I was in, he had a feature-length script for "Green Lantern" he'd written.

I agree, Green Lantern would make a great popcorn movie. We have the technology now.

I'd like to see Ken Russell doing Silver Surfer, though.

ONLY NICE THINGS

I want to see J D Salinger's son play Captain America. Ricardo Montalban could be the Red Skull.

Would love to see Tim Burton direct Ghost Rider. Lots of Burton Stylee imagery abound especially based on J.M.DeMatties and Bob Budiansky's run on the mid eighties issues. The stuff with the Circus of crime ( is that what they were called? ) would be great.

nb: I know my spelling on the above artist and writer are slightly askew but my Comic collection is at my mums house and I cant get to them at the mo to check up. Just in case you wondered.

Speaking of Warren Worthington III....

I envision a movie starring the Angel (or whatever he's called now), maybe done by Jeunet ('Amelie,' 'Delicatessen...').
The Angel realizes that his family riches come from something morally outrageous- the drug trade, or land mine manufacturing... whatever. So he destroys his own family's wealth and begins a journey of self-discovery, saving the poor, trying to undo the crimes he feels he has been an unwitting part to, meanwhile growing in mass popularity and appeal- which, as he gets all Buddhist, he rejects.
Two major elements are I) all he can do is fly- and he knows this. He is vulnerable, yet the envy of millions. II) He is physically beautiful- an Angel.
So, he decides to plan something morally outrageous to rid himself of these fans. He plans everything meticulously, it's really all a show- he really wouldn't do whatever it is.... But it happens, and in the crossfire, he not only kills some folks, but gets horribly disfigured.
End of picture- he flies off disgraced and disfigured and alone.

I think David Cronenberg would be a great match for the Fantastic Four.

20:34 / 07.05.02
David Lynch - Cloak and Dagger.
I can picture lots of long, slow zooms into Cloak's "darkness," and lots of erotic-yet-sexless pawing of each other. And, of course, that whole White Lodge/Black Lodge - robin of spring/wriggling worm thing he likes.
Especially if there's a crossover with Man-Thing (not a superhero, but still...).

Based on "Spy Kids," Robert Rodriguez could do pretty well with Doom Patrol, maybe. (not that familiar with the run, but have a sense for it).

The Strobe
21:18 / 07.05.02
From the brief bit I've read...

Tim Burton's Hellboy.

Other than that, I'd love to see a Miracleman movie... maybe David Fincher doing Gaiman era?

the Fool
05:25 / 08.05.02
Joss Whedon doing a proper Buffy movie (maybe after it's done on TV?)

Would that make Buffy the first movie spinoff to go back to being a movie? (You do know that Buffy is a movie spinoff?)

Joss doing Dr Strange would be cool, but so would David Cronenberg...

Elektra Assassin
directed by Oliver Stone
(Damn - awhile back I saw an actress who, looks wise, has Elektra down pat but for the life of me I can't remember who it was ...)

Plastic Forks (altho' not a superhero comic)
directed by David Cronenberg
(men giving birth through iron wombs that eventually turn them into mutant freaks ... that has Cronenberg stamped all over it)

(You do know that Buffy is a movie spinoff?)

I'm trying to forget. But really this could be really awesome. Think Lord of the Rings meets American Pie.

As it turns out a Flash film was announced today. No director attached yet, but playing the Flash will be...

VIN DIESEL....

oh, I get it, because people liked him in a movie where he drove cars FAST (not to mention FURIOUSly),then they'll like him in a movie where he does everything else FAST....

ugh....

I can't shake the feeling that Lindsay Anderson would be better directed at Buffy the Vampire slayer.

Or maybe Blade 3.

Or possibly the Phantom 2.

Robert Rodriguez is the perfect comic book movie. too bad his MADMAN will never happen... i could see Rodriguez with POISON ELVES and HELLBOY as well.

dream list (filmmakers may be dead or modified...)
Sergio Leone's PREACHER
young James Cagney as Tommy Monaghan (HITMAN)
Alfred Hitchcock's MARTIAN MANHUNTER (in stunning black and white)graphic designer (of Pink Floyd fame) Storm Thorgersen as art designer on SANDMAN
Paul Thomas Anderson's EIGHTBALL
Rob Zombie's GHOST RIDER (i love this man for his videos more than his music)
Akira Kurosawa's BLADE OF THE IMMORTAL (modified with modern practice to match many of BOTI's stunning "moving" shots. story boraded as directly from the comic as possible...hey, i said it was a dream list!)
