pointless and uncalled for

This is showing at a local cinema tomorrow night.

I have seen the original many times and was wondering whether this version is worth checking out.

If you've seen it, I would appreciate hearing about it.

Oh well... only a couple of months after the original post...
Went to see it yesterday. Honestly it's been so long since I saw it last that I found it hard to tell what was new stuff, but I'm assured there was quite a lot. I'd also forgotten just what a great movie it was.

The Return Of Rothkoid

Anyone know whether it's going to make it down here?

I certainly hope so. While some of the performances don't quite sit well with me, I really, really enjoyed it the first couple of times; the combination of attention to detail and solid story (and not too shabby music, let's face it) is pretty compelling...

Saw this the other week - to my embarrassment, I'd never seen the original. Great stuff.

A friend tells me the only obviously new bit is where Salieri tries to coerce Mrs Mozart into exchanging sexual favours for improving her hubby's reputation. Apart from that, he didn't seem to spot any new material... but he admits that, like the Chairman, it's been a while.

Where are you, RoR ? I thought you were in London ? If so, the Barbican was/is playing it as part of their Mostly Mozart season. But you're probably in Wisconsin or something. Oop.

Funnily enough, and not wishing to get all conspiracy theory on yo' collective asses, has anybody seen the play the movie was adapted from?

There was a fair bit of stuff about Salieri getting Mozart into the Masons, who were then well fucked off with him using a lot of their "secret" imagery in The Magic Flute.

I always wondered if there was a reason that never made it into the film...

(btw- Rothkoid's in Australia. And that sucks.)
