FYI: I live in the Rio Grande Valley (tip of Texas)
I've recently heard news that a man of Arabic descent was arrested in either Alice or Dallas (Texas). He had enough semi-automatic weapons, handguns, etc. to arm several hundred (possibly thousands?) people. Also discovered were plans to every major public works (schools, libraries, etc.) in the Rio Grande Valley. Furthermore, there is news that there is a watch on cropdusters taking place for fear of the spread of chemical weapons. Finally, about a week or two ago, the causeway between Port Isabel and South Padre Island was 'accidentally' rammed into by a barge. Fortunantely, there were only 8 deaths (if any deaths could be called fortunate). An investigation is still underway on the destruction of the bridge (checking blood/alcohol levels of the captain etc.) but some new evidence supports the theory that this actually was sabotage. Examples: The lights of the ship were off, but it was still morning and the lights should have been on. Some fisherman buying bait that morning were told they should head out toward the bridge because they might "see something interesting". Anyway, South Padre Island is now a National Disaster Area (right term?). The plot thickens...
I was wondering if any matters like this were going on where other 'lithers are and their opinion on it. |
