Does anyone else read RPG-inspired comics? I'm a bit of a fan of Knights of the Dinner Table, though it's continuity is sometimes a bit much for me to follow. I've never read Dork Tower, though I hear it's good. Nodwick was amusing for a while, though turned out to really be a bit of a one-trick pony. And, after the D&D movie fiasco, I didn't even go near the new comic, though it's still being published, so someone must like it. Back in the day I used to read the AD&D comic and the Dragonlance one, and I seem to recall them both being quite good. Why is it that fantasy comics seem to have fallen by the wayside? Or was there ever a heyday for them? I mean, with the cancellation of Battle Chasers, is there a comic being published by any of the big four that deals with fantasy elements?

there was a fantasy rpg plotty book by the folks who made dark minds, that was ok
the problem with the genre is its hard to do char development in an issue by issue basis if you dont know you have X number of issues total

If your continued publishing is based on sales, cant have 30 issues about char dev and 1 or 2 of battle scenes ya dig?

Yamara was tremendous, especially the one in issue #149 of DragMag.

[exit pasty geek mode]

I did actually quite enjoy Yamara and some of the other series published in TSR's Dragon Magazine. Although rife with in jokes, they were still well written and drawn.

BTW, even for a non-gamer issue #149 is still worth a read.

Ok, so they aren't "real comics", but a great number of online comics have a gaming theme.

8-bit theater 8-bit theater is based on the first final fantasy game and uses the sprites from said game to tell the story. Pretty interesting.

Elf Life is fantasy-based, and has some rpgish elements.

Rpg World is based on console games.

There's a couple more out there, but I can't find the links.

Ok, so the games aren't tabletop, but the comics are pretty interesting.

Acid Reflux is another, while not strictly RPG oriented, is pretty clearly set in an RPG world and has some of the funniest RPGish jokes I've seen. Well worth digging through the archives for.

Trijhaos, I think a couple of those you mentioned are going to be brought out in print from Keenspot publishing. Elf's Life for sure.

Yamara! I can't believe I forgot that. Steve Jackson Games reprinted the whole thing (I think) and it read really well as a graphic novel. I also forgot "What's New" by Phil Foglio, which has three collections out that are really funny. I wish I'd managed to get my hands on the collected edition of Snarfquest. A Larry Elmore drawn comic is just so lovely to look at.
