I can't shut up anymore. Have you noticed the recent synth pop 80's revival. I have. And it rocks (so to speak). Go get Ladytron, Fischerspooner, Tiga, and The faint.

Any suggestions to me, comerades?

There's also Adult, and most of the bands on the Ersatz Audio label, though most of that is a even combination of synth/electro pop and more moden electronica. Not bad stuff, but some of its not so engaging.

There's a compilation called 'electroclash' which has alot of this sorta stuff on it, varies but the best stuff is excellent...

I don't know, but there's this marvellous new group called the Human League who are going to make it big. They've got this wonderful song about wanting to work in a cocktail bar I know you'll just love...

[Seriously]

International DJ Gigolos is a good label for this sort of stuff; Tiga's has at least two mixes out on it, and they are kind of credited with doing this sort of stuff ages ago.

Felix Thee Housecat has just released a mix opf this sort of stuff, and there's an interesting-looking CD called Futurism, IIRC, which compiles some of it.

Really, though, you might as well just wait a few more weeks and you'll be drowned under a sea of compilations. There's already about 10 I've seen out on the shelves, and once Ministry of Sound start pushing Fischerspooner, everything's going to explode.

If the rumours that Fischerspooner signed for £2 million are correct (a) I'll eat my hat, but (b) there's too much investment into this sort of stuff already for it not to succeed and cross over.

I think that it's really kinda gross to count The Faint in on this. They are just emo boys from Omaha.

I strongly recommend checking out Crossover, Playgroup, Taylor Savvy, and Sexual Harrassment.

Yeah, I'm w/ Plums - the 'electroclash' album has some really great numbers on it. 'Tekgul' by Mona Trona (or is it t'other way round) has to be my favourite tune at the moment.

But if you want fun, innovative dance music (that hasn't been forced in to a silly pigeonhole yet) get the Kitty-Yo sampler.

Kitty-yo are pretty much the best label out there at the moment - the sampler is a good introduction, but you also REALLY need the Louie Austen album, and if you don't already own The Entertainist and Presidential Suite by Gonzales then hang your head in shame. In my opinion.

But speaking of electronica....

I've just got hold of a copy of Anthony Rother's special new compilation (it's a bit of a mouthful, this) 'Electro Commando 1. Welcome to Psicity'.

Sounds alright so far......

Aaah, thanks guys. Just bought the latest EP from Adult. Great stuff. Flux, you're probably right about The Faint not really fitting in here, but they are my absolute favourite right now, so: do y'all know any FAINT-like music I should get???

I've touched Chilly Gonzales' creamy thigh. Does that excuse me not having the Entertainist?

Now I like a lot of this stuff, but Gonzalez? I brought "Presidential Suite" on Sunday, and it went straight back on Monday. Very disappointing, worst record I'd heard in ages. Strikes me as a man making it solely on the basis of his ability to manipulate the media(usually something I'd think about applauding, but the sheer one-trick pony dearth of ideas on display has given me no sympathy for the guy). And if he really produced it himself he deserves to be shot. Still, at least I minidisced the two decent tunes.
