That special kind of motion sickness

For the first time, I have a computer that has the harddrive capacity and the speed to play ginchy games, and since my fiance already has a large quantity of spiffy games, I don't even need to pay for them. However, I'm sitting here eating chicken noodle soup because said games are so ginchy that they make me nauseuous, which is not a good way to end a first person shooter. Has anyone else had this problem and does anyone know of a decent cure? (Note: Dramamine puts me to sleep for a week.)

Ginger is known to prevent/cure motion sickness--in ginger snaps (God only knows how many you would have to eat), ginger tea (I just stirred a LOT of ground ginger into a cup of tea--it was pretty yucky, but seemed to work), candied ginger. Good luck!

I get this occasionally with Quake 2 and the like. My solution was just to not play them for as long. American McGee's Alice was particularly bad for me, though I loved it so much.

In retrospect, my solution's just no fun. Bring on the ginger!

Interesting, I bought 'Return to Castle Wolfenstein' to cheer myself up after my video recorder went all spoogly and I seem to have got it off that. Yet I can normally play Unreal Tournament (against the computer like the sad no-friends I am) without any probs. Might be a fluke, but I couldn't watch 'Blair Witch' at the cinema for the same reason.

I read about this cure somewhere else, I've never used it myself, don't get video game motion sickness.

Take a blanket and put it over your monitor and your head, like a tent.

Ooh, video game fort! That would be ginchy. Misheard, Unreal tournament is actually the game that gives me the quease. That's the weird thing about videogame motion sickness- your inner ear tell you you're staying still, your eye tells you you're moving.

I like the video game fort. Even if it doesn't work, it sounds like fun.
