uh: first off - apologies for starting a new thread and further hogging bandwidth - but it won't let me into the 'peacenik INVASION' thread, and this is the alternative.
just to see if anyone's still interested in the virtual peace mission, 2300 GMT tonite.
last night, having blown all my weekend cash flow friday getting down & dirty to the mighty, mighty Mad Professor, i drunkenly attempted a one man mission - just to see what would happen. read on, gentle reader...
so i started with ChristianChatUK. i decided the best way to begin would be meeting them halfway - so i was saying obviously emotive look-at-me things like: 'i'm scared. i'm scared there's gonna be a war.' it took them ages to bite 'cause they were all either in denial or frankly, disinterested.
in case you're interested, the hot topic over at ChristianChat UK is mobile phone ringtones. i tried to appeal to their spirituality by saying 'we shouldn't bomb civilians, even if they do have a different faith from us...' someone called PEACE joined in, so that was reassuring.
then i got into an argument with someone called sleazeechick547 or something. her dad was in the army. i got kicked out.
tried assorted other 'social' sites. got into argument with obviously fascist moderators - kicked out of college-type room by wannabe pondscum pseuds.
there were a couple of people out there i found common ground with. some slightly worrying character called 'loves'. it was just the two of us in the room, and every sentence coming from hir would have 'love' in it somewhere. made me scared after a bit. worried they were masturbating. made excuses, left.
cool girl in some other undifferentiated room - called morphinegirl, actually from NY, and smart, good attitude. which led to me inviting her to join barbelith, and now she has. so if you see 'emily' about - be nice to her.
aaaanyway - what i'm saying is: most social sites are useless, pointless, time-consuming, and we shouldn't hit them. HabboHotel, i think is still a goer. something about the nature of the interface...
and current affairs/news bulletin boards and chat places. i'll try and locate some where the natives are looking for a rumble.
