apparently the anti-nazi league got hacked into last night, I was sent an email saying the anl are about to be disbanded and then this morning got one saying "ignore the last message we got our mailing list hacked" also the indy media website keeps going on about its own problems with hackers, anybody know if theres been any retaliation to this anti-lefty computer war?

Apparently not all computer users are paid-up members of the Darwinist / Communist / Satanist conspiracy. Damn.

It's all a ruse, Orr - designed to throw off suspicion.

It just seems a bit odd that they manage to hack the mailing list and then immediately tell everyone that it's been compromised by sending a message that will fool no-one and be of no value to whoever did it. I'd be a lot more nervous if I thought that there was any kind of plan to this rather than low-level cyber vandalism.

The hoax message received by subscribers to the ANL mailing list last night
at 22.17 was the result of a hijacking of the automated mailing list hosted
by poptel.org.uk. This mailing list is entirely separate to the ANL's email
account and internal network: at no time were any subscriber email addresses
accessible by the hoaxer, nor was the ANL's internal network at any risk of
being hacked.

The mailing list software simply forwards emails from a restricted list of
permitted senders, without any access to the list of recipients being
granted to senders.

Poptel has since increased the security on the mailing list service,
rendering any future hijacking near-impossible without the perpetrators
being traced.

The ANL would like to reassure its mailing list subscribers that the privacy
of email addresses was and remains our highest priority.
