I think my memory is shrinking

This morning on the Subway I was reading a chapter in Camille Paglia's Vamps and Tramps about D.H. Lawrence's Women in Love, which I had read either last year or the year before and enjoyed quite a bit. In the chapter she was describing scenes and characters I had only the slightest recollection of. If you asked me right now for the main characters' names and occupations, I wouldn't be able to tell you. Now, as I say, I enjoyed this book a lot. And it was only a short time ago that I read it. Why am I unable to discuss it or even recall pertinent details from it?

This is just one occurence in a trend I'm feeling in my life. I haven't smoked pot in over a year, I don't drink heavily and I don't think I receive many blows to the head these days. I have been recently taking a low dose of Zoloft. Could this affect my memory?

my shortterm memory is fucked. i actually was gonna post up something requesting advice in wembley's health thread, but i forgot. honestly. (unlike lono, i am not taking the piss, i genuinely would appreciate some memory-boost tips)

I have problems with books/and movies too actually. My brain can't seem to remember the character names, I can remember the details of the books but never remember the names of the characters in it, very strange?

Same thing happened to me... ok, so it was a David Gemmell book, or two, and there are always loads of characters and all his books are pretty similar... but I had almost no recollection of what went on, who the characters were, etc. etc. etc... I read 'em both a year or so ago, picked 'em up again recently...just drew a complete blank. I dunno, maybe in my case it is just David Gemmell-specific memory loss...

Gingko Biloba is supposed to be a good supplement to boost the memory, as I recall. I am sure some aromatherapy oils are good too, in a sort of localised way - but I can't be arsed to check which ones at this point... hypnosis can probably be quite useful to retrain the memory too...

Anti-depressants, in my experience, fuck your memory. Well, they generally blunt the thought processes a little, so those tiny details tend to get lost. Or is it that you don't get so obsessive about stupid things any more?

Either way, my memory is wank these days. It doesn't make that much difference - I just use my auxiliary memory instead.
