Top music mag Careless Talk are holding an evening of fine music on the 29th in Hove, home of indie rock (they had one last night as well, but I was all indie rock-ed out). Here are the details:

8-11pm; £2/£1.50
Cella @ The Sanctuary, 51-55 Brunswick Street East, Hove
DJs: Everett True, Andrew Clare, Mia Clarke (of Electrelane)

I will in all likelihood be travelling down for this - it's dead cheap, and it should finish in time for me to get back to London that night... And while I don't know 100% what the blokes will play, and share some of people's common ambivalence towards Everett True (if he plays a Yeah Yeah Yeahs tune I'll forgive him anything though), a lot of the music Careless Talk has been championning is right up my alley, and the Mia Clarke set should be excellent, in all likelihood a mix of grrl rock, electronica, and what happens when you cross the two - electrrronica! You know, Peaches, Le Tigre, Ladytron, Chicks On Speed, Blechtum from whatsit, that kind of thing...

So: any London peeps up for it? Any Brighton peeps wanna confirm it's not too far away from Brighton train station? Any Brighton peeps wanna come, you beautiful lazy fuckers, and possibly want to meet up earlier in the day (no, I still don't have a job...)? autopilot? plums? suds? Nelson?

gah. really really wanted to go to this, and it was more than pencilled in already. unfortunately that's the very day i'll be up in manchester meeting with the royal exchange theatre (over whether or not they're gonna stage one of my plays - woo!). so... swings and roundabouts, i guess.

in latest news - am convinced everett true's stalking me 'cause someone keeps visiting my blog through the search 'careless talk everett'. huh? huh? it's ok, though - 'cause i'm counter-stalking him with my perpetually unfinished godspeed! review. which will convince him to pay me to write for him. yes.

okay. as autopilot says - i'm going(i live on the next street so it's kinda compulsory). it should be cool. so when do people wanna meet up etc.

the place is about 15 minutes walk from both hove and brighton stations, so it doesn't matter where you get off.

and flyboy. we did meet up the other week.

i saw the 'careless talk' yesterday and i thought the bratmobile review was really rubbish. i was there that night and interviewed the band. i mean, should i be grateful that bratmobile are in a magazine at all, even though the writing sucks and the picture doesn't even show allison's beautiful face, let alone molly or erin. grrrr.
i'm not sure i can go to this night if i'm pissy at the magazine.

Er... what pissed you off about the Bratmobile review - it was really positive, wasn't it? I think the photo was part of the magazine's continuing effort to provide something a little different, visually, from yr typical music mag photos, which I can only applaud... I have to say I actually really liked the overall effect - bit 'arty', but better that than boring...
