I've read through bits of his "Godel, Escher, Bach - An Eternal Golden Braid" Its all about consciousness as a recursive algorhythm, a system which includes its self as an element and thus is self aware of itself though it can never fully define itself in terms of itself. Bent my head, it did. Found that one as I was coming to similar conclusions myself on the nature of cognition, and was somewhat dissapointed to find that he beat me to it in far more extensive detail that I could ever bang out. He just gives endless examples of this pattern in nature, science, and philosophy. Its amazing stuff. I wasn't aware he wrote on metamagic as well, another of my favorite mental games. I'll have to look that one up. |
