I know there's a fair number of pub-loungers, book readers, film watchers, music listeners, (in)sane theorists, and other sorts on this board, but just so I feel like less of a fanatic, how many health freaks are out there?

I've been more or less vegetarian for 10 years. I eat a low-carb diet and stay away from most processed foods (haven't eaten a bagel in 9 months). I'm starting to buy organic food. I spend an average of 10 hours every week at the gym (don't ask me why it takes me 10 hours to do all that; I don't know where the time goes). I've taken up Bikram Yoga (done in a room that's 110 degrees and 60% humidity - feels amazing ... afterwards) and can touch my nose to my knees while standing. My headstands are up to one minute freestanding. I'm addicted to teas with names like "Egyptian Licorice Tea" and "Triple Leaf Detox." I gave up smoking in September and have ACTUALLY stuck to it.

Am I the only health freak on the board? I realised a while ago that one of my hobbies is going to the gym, but I still read books and eat chocolate - honest! Please tell me I'm not alone. And please tell me, if you've got a six pack, how the hell you did it.

I'm trying. I successfully gave up smoking last month, I'm currently off caffeine, I've been riding a bike as my primary form of transportation, and I actually started a weight-training regimen today.

As for food, I've been upping my intake of fruits and vegetables, and trying to expand my cooking repertoire. But I'm extraordinarily broke most of the time--like, "sell CDs to buy pasta" broke--so I'm still trying to work out what plants I can afford to buy organic, and which I won't be able to tell the difference so I should keep buying them at the 99-cent store.

Wow, I can touch my toes if I'm lying down and have my knees bent. A work out is getting out of breath as I climb the one flight to my apartment. Eating healthy, well there I did have a bit. Don't like salt, preservatives and have never had coffee in my life. (personally love this irony due to the fact that I currently work for a coffee company, smells great though).

Wembley, I'm impressed.

I used to do the 20 minute work out twice in a row, be able to do things with boundless energy and was vegetarian for 5 years. Then I got old.

Nah, that wasn't it. Must be lazy. Yep, lazy. I do think about working out a lot though. Still in that "yeah, I should do that someday" mode. *big sigh*
Kudos to you. Don't ever stop.

don't let my last post fool ya, i wish i had your motivation! i think my soul was up for grabs and the lazy stoners beat the health freeks by mere seconds, though i do enjoy eating well (somewhat, when i can), running (regularly on an occasional basis) and have toyed with the idea of vegetarianism for about a year now. if i send you my mailing address can you send me some of your mojo?

Dude, there is *so* plenty of that mojo to go around. And I didn't start all of that stuff cold turkey, it's a slow accumulation of nyah-nyah-me-so-healthy habits that have got me to my present boring state, where I seem to be unable to talk about anything besides my resting heart rate. I feel pretty good though. A bit dumber, perhaps, but good.

(It's reptilian.)

I haven't been working out regularly in a while - have gained about 15 pounds and, over the past couple weeks, have gotten this interested arrhythmia every day after lunch.
But next monday, my tai chi teacher is back in town.
And I eat pisco-vegetarian, and am growing some of my own vegetables.
It's the chocolate, really. The chocolate and the renovatin' that eats up the fitness points.

I used to be gung ho (I still have the supplements to prove it), but my eating became such a tiresome focus in my life. So now I eat what I please, when I please, and how much of it I please.

I was keeping myself pretty fit though with my marathon-training. Unfortunately, I let an emotional spill derail me, and haven't run consistently in about 3 months.

I begin anew on Friday! I swear!

Erm, and I like to drink. I won't be giving that up.
