Did you snog Kim Deal, Flyboy? In a bar? In Alphabet City? Yessssss....

Oh,a nd loveliest thing - that there is a shadowy organisation devoted to giving Lex huggles.

Flyboy said: Seeing The Breeders play the theme tune from Buffy at ATP on Friday night. That was one of the greatest rock'n'roll moments of my life, but was bettered a few hours later by the inevitable consequences of ATP not having a VIP area, and Kim Deal's fondness for the booze. I'll tell you all later in the music forum, 'kay?

Lucky bastard.

my kid hurling herself gleefully into the pool with an emourmous splash

my stoic boyfriend, speaking tenderly, worried about me

finally capturing that road Ive driven down dozens of times on film; rocky walls, old stone warehouses and lush leafy canopies this time of year

small sounds making me grin

new ben and jerrys flavors

a package on my doorstep

One of the loveliest things was that feeling I now get when I am at the baggage claim and seeing my beloved for the first time in weeks. And then I feel stupid for acting so happy.

Oh, and I love Nyago too.

Stop being so wet, the lot of you. And that Haus of all people should start such a thread.

I insist people start being unpleasant immediately. And knock off the huggles.

First the board goes white and now this!

All this positive energy is making me feel ill. Why can't we all be depressed and apathetic. Is that too much to ask?

I'm with Lurid on this one. It's always so much fun when we're all being nasty to each other. Quick, someone make an inadvertent comment which implies gay=evil!

File under 'tumbly-warming moments of unexpected lovelinesses': the campus cat just stuck his head through the blinds, took a brief look around my office, leapt in, strolled across the room and out the door, with his tail high in the air.

All offices should have cats.

The best part of it is that whenever I see something in the corner of my eye, 9 times out of ten my brain will decide it's a cat, and it never is (it's a bucket or a turnip). But this time it WAS a CAT. Woo-hoo!

theres these bland little bushes all over baltimore that in the springtime come up with a riotous overabundance of the most lovely colored flowers - the petals in pastels and brights, mingling with the blossoms from trees, swirling in the most joyously choreographed way. fantastic!

getting a package from the lovely Mr. invisible_al, or whatever he's calling himself these days.... cheers love.

the sun, gloriously warm, walking about outside and just smelling the air has been gorgeous

waking up having had a bunch of really intense dreams, falling asleep and dropping straight back into the really sexy one. mmmmm

Falling asleep on a bench while reading, outside of the Tower of London today. I feel like a big checkmark has been entered in my life's 'must do' list.

awww. there was this cute little kittenish manx tabby trying to make its way into the british museum last night, and it was everso friendly, too. reminded me of street cats in europe, places on the mediterranean always seem to have cats all over the place, so every time you go to a museum you see them. except in napoli, where it's dogs. crazy dogs who climb all over the ancient mosaics in the herculaneum and follow you round the streets for hours on end...

there used to be a cat that would sleep on my desk in my form room when i was at school. wouldn't let anyone else stroke it.

Double awwww! This campus cat is similar, it sleeps in the in-tray of the post-grad admin office.

Today's lovely is:

The word dentifrice

as spotted on this site: http://www.tube.org/

"This website is a global resource dedicated to providing procurement resources for packaging buyers in the dentifrice, cosmetic, pharmaceutical, household / industrial, and food industries.

The Tube Council is a not-for-profit trade organization composed primarily of organizations engaged in producing products or services directly related to the collapsible squeeze tube industry."

There is also something lovely about the fact that there is such a thing as the Tube Council. And the way that they come across as being incredibly upright and noble and are a force for simple, honest good in the world via their support and promotion of simple, practical technology is very reassuring.

Nothing is lovely. All is shite. Any who say that there is loveliness are hawking shite. Therefore, they are shitehawks. Do not dispute my Truth. It is bigger than yours, and has a knife.

Except for miss spooky. She is the exception that proves the rule. She is always lovely.

Fuck off, all of you.

[gushing parent mode] Folding my son's laundry makes me feel all this baby-love (parents know just what I'm talking about). His clothes are just so small and cute. And when he's sitting on the couch with his legs sticking out straight in front of him and he's reading a comic (Justice League Adventures his current fave) I get so proud.

Zoom.

Not sure if this is appropriate, but I wanted to share without starting a whole new thread, and this was the closest thing going.

Just about every college I applied to managed to mess up my application. After sending emails asking about my status, my second choice responded by saying that there was a problem. Two problems, actually. One, I had two student ID numbers. Two, I had two college application numbers. After playing a great deal of phone tag, I finally laid it all on the line and they sorted it out (their fault for one of the problems, mine for the other). The person I dealt with was super nice. So nice, in fact, that they chose to skip over the portfolio review and I was immediately accepted into the college. Now I'm just waiting oon my first choice, but at least I know I'm hitting the books come Fall.

Every Fall I feel miserable, as friends and family head off to school and get that rush of the unknown. I lust for the smell of new school supplies. Now I can experience that again.

Like an omen, both my brother and my mother received their degrees this weekend.

My kitties were all set to go back to my ex-girlfriend, but she called me out of the blue and told me that she would rather I keep them, since they've been with me so long and love me so much. That was very selfless of her, and I can't help but be happy that we've both grown so much since our breakup, and that we can relate like adults to one another.

Kitties!

Big shoutout to the folks involved in the two comics projects in the Creation. They've been super supportive during my leave and have taken the ball and are running with it. Thanks, Troops (especially Captain Zoom, who I owe five pages).

Reading Peanuts and Popeye comics in bed during a thunderstorm.

Mandatory bi-monthly self-indulgence over.

Go Barbelith!

congratulations, moriarty - cats and new stationery. what more could anyone want?

well, i had a story published a week or so ago, which always makes me feel quite humbled. hopefully it will be performed later in the year. also i am happy in my new house and have bonded with the cats. one insists on me carrying him around the house on my shoulder at regular intervals, another follows me EVERYWHERE and howls if he can't find me and the third - a feral cat, apparently, a terribly nervy thing - has actually sat on me, something the landlady has not seen in the 16 years she's had her.

The walk from my apartment down to China Beach is pretty lovely, but spending two hours watching the tide crash in, the waves push the foam up the beach, and the wind roll and loft chunks of said foam is lovelier. (Of couse, the fog rolled in and I froze my ass off in spite of leather and a wool sweater... but this is San Francisco.) Also lovely is that I'm home now with a glass of wine and a (very warm) cat asleep in my lap.

This is the funniest thing ever, and has reassured me that slash will indeed save the world.

Another lovely thing was going to a nearby planet on MOnday, noticing a ridiculous Queen of the Galaxy Jubilee Party and trying to avoid it in misery at the state of the universe - but when we went back along the street a little while later, there were like 10 beautiful teens standing at one end of the cordoned-off party area, wearing HUGE pants and Slipknot t-shirts, playing the Sex Pistols on a ghettoblaster, and brandishing banners saying stuff like "Stop Feeding The Pigs" with pictures of Liz 'n' Phil with snouts. How cute is that?

And, even *cuter*, all the middle-aged/old people walking past the 'protest' on the way to or from the party were giving the teens huge, delighted smiles.

Sometimes I feel happy.

i am beginning to aquire a real affection for slash....

anyway, cholister has been messing around with a couple of photographs of mine (not of me! that i took!) for the front cover of the mag i'm doing. i'm happy to say that i'm having a real dilemma because both general ideas look fantastic. not having to glue text to a badly photocopied pic is like being in wonderland as far as i'm concerned, but at this rate i'm going to look like a real writer....

If it's any consolation to all you people who find nice stuff disturbing, then my cute little doggy is REALLY pissed off with me now, and has been for the last couple of weeks, cos she's got a rash on her tummy which the vet says I have to scrub with this weird red shit twice a day, so she's not actually 'speaking' to me at the moment, cos I don't think it's much fun. For either of us.

She still comes in and curls up next to me when I'm asleep, though, which is lovely. Every time.

The pause between telling someone how you feel and getting a hug is nice.

The feeling of a job well done is nice.

Knowing, is nice.
