fucksake! i'm not THAT old, yet rage and trijhaos have never heard these major, major hits that are, like, always used in adverts and as shopping muzak and are really well known.

christ, that makes me feel fucking O-L-D. >sigh<

i got mud's 'lonely this christmas' for the uk and harry chapin's 'cat's in the cradle' for the usa. i know both these songs and they're kinda sucky, but not toooo bad. there's that classic ohhh-so-cheesy talking bit on the mud track that you just have to love because it's soooo bad.

Christ, what a fucking inauspicious start to life:

UK: Two Little Boys by Rolf Harris

US: Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head by BJ (Blow Job?) Thomas.

It's no wonder I turned out the way I did.

Nightguard- 23rd November, 71. Which means Slade must have been No 1 for a good couple of weeks.
But hey, I got Shaft, so I'm happy. "he's a complicated moomin, and nobody understands him but moominmamma... STOAT!" yeah. I like that.

The Return Of Rothkoid
12:24 / 19.04.02
Sax: if you're ever up for murder, you should present the Rolf as evidence to clear your name. Born under a bad sign indeed.

let's get physical by Olivia Newton-John.

fuuuuuck.

Oh dear -

UK - Tragedy by The Bee Gees
USA - I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor

Well that just does it then. I'm now Gay

Never make fun of "Don't You Want Me" by the Human League. The synth is fantastico. And also, I love it and fondly remember singing it at the top of my lungs when it was possible.

And I'm passing you a rattle you little baby...

Summer Nights by
John Travolta And Olivia Newton John

MacArthur Park by
Donna Summer

I wish I had some comment on these songs... um...I'm glad I've never heard the former, and have only heard the latter on The Simpsons?

Hold on there, brother:

UK: I Don't Want To Talk About It / The First Cut Is The Deepest by Rod Stewart
US:I'm Your Boogie Man by K.C. and the Sunshine Band

Full of contradictions, I am born to boogie, then get depressed, antisocial, and eventually start cutting.

The First Cut is the Deepest is a fantastic song.

You weren't born by Caesarian Section by any chance, where you?

Fuck yeah. That song rocks nearly as much as Motorhead.

No.1 in UK when I was born was something called 'Fame' by one
Irene Cara .. sounds pretty crap.

In the US however, I get 'Eye of The Tiger'! Which i've always hated, but still, YEAH! WOO! Beat that!

Sax
17:07 / 20.04.02
Riz, you are joking about not know what "Fame" is, right?

Oh dear god, I hadn't even thought of that... I was a VERY big baby and my mom is a VERY small mom. She even stayed awake for the whole thing.

Manfred Mann and The Mighty Quinn? Jesus. But it beats Sax so that's okay.

I have to say I find it freaky that I remember the songs from when lots of you were born. And Rizla, you have to be kidding? Please?

"Faaaaaame, I wanna live for ever, I wanna learn how to fly - high!"

Sax
17:15 / 20.04.02
Bet you fancied Leroy, didn't you Ari?

And The Manfreds rock. I'll have no bad word said against them. Mighty Quinn not as good as Pretty Flamingo or Doo Wah Diddy, I'll grant you, but even so...

And I think I must be winning in the naffness stakes with Rolf.

"Faaaaaame, I wanna live for ever, I wanna learn how to fly - high!"

oh, right, that one. I still think it's crap.

The Mighty Quinn - now there's a fucking tune! I used to listen to it all the time when I was little..

The Strobe
22:19 / 20.04.02
Rizla - I will beat that.

I got Eye of the Tiger by Survivor in the UK chart for my birthday. The US one was emminently forgettable... Jack and Diane, by John Cougar. However that goes.

Rage

Ahhh. Thank you Flux. Out of curiosity- is that song about sex, crystal, or something else?

Three words: Captain. And. Tenille.

Yup. "Do that to me one more time." I feel dirty.
