After all of the good shows that Fox axed, I'm glad this one finally met it's maker. Good riddance.

Certainly wasn't getting at Ms. Beal in a "Jeez, she's a bit of a thin minger" kinda way (Tho', admittedly, I do find her VERY unattractive) - I just genuinely hate this penchant for really, really thin women at the moment - it's so obviously a bad thing. I mean, how fucking perverse/distorted are our tastes, anyway? ("J-Lo's so fat..." In what fucking universe?) Flockhart's supposed to look good, but she looks so ill - it disturbs me. Probably shouldn't have bound the eating disorder stuff up w/ the "Gawd, don't you just hate Ally McBeal...it's so shit!" vibe of this thread, though

a) I wasn't much more than sideswiping Runce - it was more a general comment on the kind of criticism Ally McBeal and by extension Callista Flockhart (complete with "scrawny ass") is prone to receive (and indeed the fact that, unless you happen to know her dietician, she is to the best of my knowledge dealing with accusations both of being an out-of-control anorexic and an evil destroyer of women's self-esteem without any conclusive evidence pointing to either).

b) Is something up, Nick? You're being unusually snide and aggressive, and seem intent on attempting to engineer confrontation. Stress?

I got addicted to this fucking programme when Downey Jr. was on it. I can't not watch anything with RDJr. in it especially if it's weekly and on TV. Thank god the series finished before my self-respect did.

I have no excuse for getting addicted to Dawson's Creek, though. Thank god the series finished before I killed all of those cunty big-mouthed faux-teens with their own dialogue.

I saw some of the first couple seasons - I loved the way the show used CGI in a non-sci-fi way. Groundbreaking, that.
Pity it seemed to outlive the novelty. But the first time the dancing baby showed up, that was bizarre. Because that was a meme from the net that crossed over to TV.

Christina Ricci's casting: obvious move to appeal to zaftig demographic. I would love to see her fight Lucy Liu. (Sorry, having a Charlie's Angels crossover flashback thing.)

gotta say, I thought they episodes with Robert Downey, Jr. were pretty good. I haven't seen much of the series as a whole, but having something of a crush on Downey made me tune in. Stopped watching about one or two episodes after he left.

The guy who plays Fish is hilarious. I think he used to be Ned & Stacy as well....

I hear you, friend, I hear you. I couldn't watch it again after he was kicked off the show. Man that episode where he played "I Wish I Had a River" was SAD!

Back in some days of Ally I enjoyed some matriarchal revenge fantasy aspects of the show, but that dancing baby was one of the worst things to ever happen to pop culture. And I think Portia de Rossi is quite lovely.

Weird non-brush with celebrity: Dad & I at LA airport, miss departure plane because of shoot-out in the baggage area, everyone lines up on curb to catch shuttles to hotels (traffic being backed up like nothing I've ever seen), and Portia (she's the one who plays the receptionist, right?) is on the curb just ahead of us. A limo pulls up, she offers a ride to the person in line behind her. Who is the person right in front of us. If only we'd made it to the line two seconds earlier....

Thanks for that. My girlfriend is a thin girl and the comments people make about Callista Flockhart piss her off to no end because she gets some of the same shit from people. She eats four or five times a day and never gains weight, what should she do? And why is it okay for people to rail on about the thin girl? "That girl needs to eat." "She must be anorexic." blah fuckin blah. Wonder what the reaction around here would be if I said some heavy set TV girl needed to lay off the twinkies...
