Here's some great background material on Ninjas.

Fact:

Ninjas are Mammals.

Well, I hope I didn't write too much.

Kung fu, Cuban style.

You might not realize it, but there's a large Chinese population in Cuba - brothers in Communism.

I'm thinking of a cross between Supercop and Buena Vista Social Club, so far.

Prove me wrong.

hmmm... dunno if you'll wanna leave this note on - BUT

his name is Quian, her name is Dui.

there is a point to this... ask PATricky!

Of course we'll all leave the note. I wouldn't be entirely surprised if it got ignored...particularly since your so durned mysterious about why it's important! But that's in the nature of the story, isn't it? Those oddly confusing chops and changes in narrative which turn many Hong Kong movies into violent tone-poems...

nah... I just meant that it contravened Rule No. 1.

We're The Great Old Ones Now
08:00 / 18.04.02
Oh, well. Rule 1 is a preemptive strike at Barbelith's inability to hold a narrative in collective writing. If you violate it seriously enough, we'll end up with a filmable script, and then think how sorry you'll be...

Um.

Hey, Moderator (& mixmage) - can we change the grain fields to sugar cane? More appropriate to the region, and I wanted to introduce some cane cutters... you know, to have the full on machete-melee blade fight potential.

grant in the follow up apparently...
(notes for future contributors, if you want a scene/char to be in an area other than where the previous action was, then you should specify where)

lol... cuba's fine with me
*rearranges air of mystery*
I think grant provided all the right elements... just ironing out the details.

I just wrote a long scene starting in the bathtub, then just noticed Nick had the guy showering right beforehand. Damn.

Is possible to change "showering" to "pours himself a drink"?
I promise I'll try to pay more freakin' attention in the future.

Must use this to create a title. Simply must.

We're The Great Old Ones Now

I'll change it...

But damn you for obviating my homo-erotic abluting sequence, pipsqueak tabloid poet! I shall have my revenge upon your movable gizzard!

Waiting for a speedboat chase. Must be a speedboat chase.

Nick: you may spank me. You will still rule.

A speedboat chase would rock.

Is it obvious how much fun I think this one is? Because it is.

A "kwoon" is a "dojo" is a training space for martial arts.

Quian, who is apparently black (might be worth editing to put that in the character description of the post where he first appears), wakes from a dream, sees blood on his daughter (who I thought was really young, like four or five, but maybe might be 12), and decides to go and practice his sword form outside, in a ritual way, to mark her passage into womanhood.
There he sees Yu, who he recognizes.

And (heh heh) apparently is friends with.

Oh, and for a samurai (japanese, like ninjas, for that matter), the two swords "katana" and "wakizashi" are a long woman and a shorter man - the shortsword is described here as the little brother of the longsword.

It might be worthwhile physically describing the "respect" he offers the swords before going to work out with them. I'm imagining:

He sinks to his knees and prostrates himself before the swords, then rises and respectfully takes them from their stand.
