I'm listening to them play live right now and it's shite. Why should I stay?

Are they playing a net cafe or something? How is that you have an internet connection at a gig?

You should go, but you should get their snaunted haus ep and skip the music tracks for the skits, because they're hilarious.

It got better.

They were at the ICA bar, where there are many computers.

After I'd got over my initial distaste at electronica wankery and tunelessness (did this by visualising it as entertainment rather than music) I got quite into it. The one who sings has shitloads of charisma and the humour of the stuff came through very well after a while.

I loved the song about being "free, from hygienic responsibility"...

Does anyone know if this lot have anything to do with the Kevin Blechdom who makes gabber records? It can't be a common name...

It's Kevin Blechdom teaming with Belvin Blectum - I think they're both women, is that right? They have a couple of releases on tigerbeat6 and a forthcoming live album - did it get that much better that the live set would be worth chasing up?

Yeah, they are both women - I think that's what threw me with the "Kevin" thing.

As to whether it got better enough for you to chase up the live set - hard to say. This is miles away from the kind of music I'm normally into both stylistically and culturally. I would say that there wasn't a huge amount of interaction with the audience as such and they clearly did the whole thing with pre-programmed loops (barring a bit of banjo-playing) so I don't know how much a live performance would add.

But it's definitely infinitely more interesting than anything else from that electronica/electroclash scene IMHO so if you liked their other record, I'd say chase down everything they ever recorded...

Does electroclash just mean annoyingly arty electro-y bands, or is it something else that I missed?

Yep, that's what it means.
