Situationism Made Queasy

Hi.

Little Nemo rocks my hiz-ouse. It's strange and beautiful.

Anybody know where I could find, like, literary or artistic criticism or
just sort of generaly scholarly examinations of it? Would such a thing
exist?

Gracias.

are we talking about the same little nemo that starred in the gawd-awful 8-bit nintendo game? my pop-culture awareness isn't as great as it used to be; i've allocated those brain cells for other things (well, i'm lending them to the first human based telepathic computer: i felt that i wasn't using them properly, so i figured i'd give somebody else a shot. confusing? sorry, i'm subconciously computing calculus problems for an honors student in senegal.).

Weirdo.

Writings on Little Nemo can be found all over the place, if you look hard enough. Like almost every comic strip reprint, biographical and scholarly info can usually be found in the introduction. Other then that, bits and pieces are all over the place. I can safely estimate that I've read at least three dozen essays, varying in length, on McCay. Try general Comic Strip and Animation history books at your library. John Canemaker wrote an excellent biography on McCay that's long out of print, but can be found in some libraries. Nemo, a magazine devoted to the study of comic strips, may have something, or at least I should hope so considering their title. Even the Comics Journal has probably had a few articles.

Good luck.

(Only useful if you're UK-based or have VHS PAL technology, but...) Isn't there a video on MacCay available in the Tate Modern shop in London ?

I think it contains various shorts, and some sort of linking documentary stuff. Might be worth looking on the Tate site (tate.org.uk or similar, I believe)...

Don't think I'm really helping here, so I'll shuddup.

Here's a panel by panel archive of a couple Nemo stories.

Some questions and answers (although the links don't work so good).

Better material is available here, short bio of McKay, with a couple good links to more info.

This may also be worthwhile.
