Gawd, what a disappointment.
No suspense, no thrills, not a chill in the house.
And an ending you can see coming from a mile away.

Hype sucked me in - and once again, Hype burned me.
Poor poor Mr. Nightguard, wants his money back.

It was about as exciting as an episode of X-files (which isn't terribly high on my list). I read several excellent reviews that hyped the suspense factor -- word was, that where this movie lacked in blood and guts, it made up for in tingles. Well, no tingles for me ... it barely kept me awake. The story idea was fresh, but the execution was so middle of the road ... they just didn't go anywhere with it and that includes the twist ending. Ma and Pa America probably won't see it coming but if this movie is your type of thing you'll see it clear as day -- I think about twenty minutes in, I knew how it would all end.

In my opinon, they did a dis-service to this flick by toning down the grue - it needed some blood and guts - anything - to give it edge ... they could have at least shown us a demon or two. Oh well, maybe I'm jaded because I know I'm probably in the minority on this one.

I just hate seeing TV up on the big screen. How about the rest of you?

I second that criticism. Perhaps I'm just peeved that It cost me twice what it should have.

On a side note: what sort of insanity is it to put a bar in a movie theater and then charge a cover for said bar? Of course drinking would have improved my viewing so mayhap I'll rethink this.

Now to continue. No suspense at all. I was suckered into the creepy hype too. The only thing that was creepy about that movie was seeing an el Camino with a working engine and no rust, but that could just be me. In all honesty, I think the story itself was good. However, the flashback retelling was just a bad idea. (It worked in the Usual Suspects for a reason, not because it's inherently good, people.) It ruined the creepiness of the story and the accompanying foreshadowing killed the suspense that should have/would have/could have been present in the retelling portions.
