Shit! I've been trying to build a microphone preamp and op amp driving a speaker all by myself but I end up with a speaker producing buzzing sound. Anyone has a clue as to what could be the cause?

Don't ask me to take this to the engineering forum. I don't think they can answer me especially with the minature microphone that they sell you nowadays, it's no longer the same as the microphone of old. Seems that the minature microphone are build by Martians and send to us by space frigate.

I didn't think this was funny until I got to "space frigate".

Are your connections shielded - well insulated, that is?
Oh, and have you *coiled* wire anywhere inside it? Coiling wire will generate these electric fields that buzz in speakers.
In general, though, it just sounds like a bad connection.

It's BAD, it's BAD, I know it-so say Michael Jackson.

NOpe, my connection are not shielded but they are well insulated. I dunno how to make a shield.

And I didn't coil anything anywhere.

Thanks.

Someone (Dr Funda & staff) say it could be due to amplification of noise at the high gain input

So pls tell me do I wrap the wiring from my microphone to the high gain input in earthed aluminium foil?

I'm not sure. There are other people here more qualified to answer that one, I think.
Does the speaker only buzz when the microphone is hooked up, or does it buzz all the time?
It does seem like aluminum foil would lead to strange sounds - I know very little about how shielding is constructed. Might be worth a shot.
