Wow, Suede. I think that's just great .

(From one who has revelled in sleeping in today, and who very much likes cats -- my present mog, Nureyev, a tabby & white named for his leaping capacity and the white tights on his neat little ass/back legs, is one of the most communicative and affectionate I've had.)

Hmm. Does the 'I' of the text refer to you? And is the statement a true description? *Have* you been 'waiting for something to happen? And has it happened?

Amazing! You have drawn a picture of me! And my cat! And my latest I-Ching hexagram, #47 K'un/Oppression (Exhaustion)!

"When a strong man meets with adversity, he remains cheerful despite all danger, and this cheerfulness is the source of later successes; it is that stability which is stronger than fate. He who lets his spirit be broken by exhaustion certainly has no success. But if adversity only bends a man, it creates in him a power to react that is bound in time to manifest itself" (emphasis mine, apropos to your picture).

Would you sell or trade for your work?

It could easily apply to me, as could the whole statement really. But, the words are mostly taken from something someone close to me said once, and 'tis whom I have given this picture to.

Would you sell or trade for your work?

Uh... yes? Although, as stated above, this particular picture is no longer with me...

I can do nice prints though.
Or an original... but.. er... yeah, I dunno?

Anyone wanna be my agent?

Dear Boy:

Your latest work reminded me of a paragraph from Rachel Pollack's Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom, a book on Tarot that I recently recommended to someone. Here she discusses Trump 2, the High Priestess:

People often link passive with 'negative' or that is, inferior and weak. But passivity contains its own power. It gives the mind a chance to work. People who only know action never get a chance to reflect on what that action has taught them. In a deeper sense, passivity allows the unconcsious to emerge. Only through withdrawal from outer involvement can we allow the inner voice of vision and psychic forces to speak to us. It is precisely to avoid this inner voice that many people never rest from action and movement. Our society, based completely on outer achievement, fosters a terror of the unonscious, yet without its wisdom we can never fully know ourselves or the world.

How interesting that I read that paragraph last night and found your artwork on Barbelith this morning.

(That being said, my cats never, ever sleep.)

No strange synchronicity or i-Ching quotations I'm afraid, but as a person who likes cats and sleeping, just wanted to say that picture's groovy as hell.

Ohhhh, well... do you mind if I print myself a t-shirt with this picture? For sleeping in, natch?

Some more: It's a bit wonky and small looking, but that's just because in the physical plain of reality it's big. For me anyway. I could barely fit it on my scanner!

oooo! Thanks!

kooky: yeah, kind of thinking about that kind of thing at the moment. Not sure how to get in to it or anything... but maybe somewhere along the line... if anyone could offer advice that would be cool. I might try a few projects of my own though (in the vein of this thread).

persephone: will get back to you soon! been having a little computer trouble, but hopefully will get things sorted soon...

And here's a pic from the other end of the scale. Not sure if it's even finished, but it's probably as finished as I'll ever bother to make the bastard:

These are wonderful. Just to say I look at this every now and then, when I need a boost.

And yes, these would make wonderful kids books.

criticism? well, it's difficult to read the blue-on-blue writing. i missed this one before, so well done for bumping the thread again, even in shameless self-promotion :]

Yeah, I know what you mean. But mostly I was interested in what anyone thought on this picture - seeing as it's not as obvious as the others (they are like "instant huggle" pics, or something) and hearing people talk about my "work" makes me feel all special.

But, the blue on blue just says (repeats) "Don't walk away in silence, don't turn away in silence" that is in the caption boxes.
