New Year's Resolutions - How's It Going?

i remember a lot of barbefolk posting resolutions, and i wondered how many could be crossed off the list. i'm assuming much of the stuff on the achievements thread are extra to resolutions.

mine were to have a test for diabetes and to start discussions on making a film. i did the test (negative) but the bloke who was my contact is the best mate of my ex-landlady. who doesn't like me very much anymore. so no more contact with him. instead i am putting a short story collection together, something i also wanted to do (basically cos no one else will, but there you go. i am a misunderstood genius, etc).

well? how about you lot?

I made a resolution to learn to cook Thai from my sister in law.

So far I have completely failed to address the issue.

I am a loser.

I didn't make any resolutions, because I have no faith in my ability to keep them. However, I have been learning a bit more perl, which is something. Oh, and there's the "change countries" thing that I suppose has vaguely taken shape.

I told myself 'no more procrastinating'. Um...havn't got around to it yet, but I will (groan).

i didn't make resolutions for years precisely because i forgot about them, but i think it's as good a time as any to think about my life and what i want to achieve - so i chose things that were really important to me. additionally, though, i have realised that in order to be really happy i need to be in cornwall, permanently. i am 35 now, and i feel like london is killing me. so that's another one - celebrate my 37th or 38th birthday in cornwall.

Careful, SFD. I come from that part of the country and it's as miserable experience as one could wish to find. The streets are not paved with gold, and the fountains do not run with milk and honey. Aye, the land beyond the Tamar is notorious bandit country, and no mistake...

I've already achieved my three main New Year's resolutions (go to America, finish writing something, and a third one which I don't feel at liberty to discuss), which is incredibly implausible, surprising and satisfying. Now all I need is a new job...

I made no resolutions. But I quit smoking and caffeine a few weeks ago, almost on impulse. The caffeine will probably return at some point, but I think the cigarettes may really be gone.
