A while back there was a program on (channel 4 britain) about how structures like maes how (not spelt like that) and stonehenge and other stoneage buildings were designed to manipulate sound in certain ways (by bouncing of walls and round corners), and in the case of maes how (in orkney) used to create an altered state of consciousness. The way that the scientist type person described the effect, was similar to my experiences in inducing OBE's and practicing astral projection, and is pretty much the state of mind required to be able to project...I've been unable to find any relevent information to the experiments, but i remember the frequency way somewhere around 2.5 HZ...which a little later, reappeared on a program about ghosts, where they blamed many ghost sightings on stuff resonating at 2.5 HZ, which caused people to become agitated and scared, and see ghosts.

ive got my PC hooked up to my stereo right now, and im gonna attach my little brothers bass amp up to my PC once ive gotten a lead adapter thingy.

please let me know what you know on the subject of sound, and if you have any relevent links :P

No info but this sounds like a cool experiment, arn't certain frequencies dangerous? I seem to remember something about nazi experiments during the war...or was that just biggles the movie?

OBE and Astral projection is something I've never really seen talked about on here.

The stuff with the ghosts though I've seen them do that (on TV) - very interesting stuff - I think Mordant will probably be the one to help you here, people were talking about an experiment a little while ago which I got confused with this ghost stuff.....

im pretty sure the lower frequencies arent to dangerous...from the program on 4, they seemed to be saying that it was this frequency of 2.5 Hz (i think it was that) would resonate the body and brain to create the gnostic trance type state.

as for astral projection, its something i can do, but it takes me hours of uninterupted relaxation and meditation...which i can really only do when my hyperactive brother is away, and i always found it really hard late at night, so im kinda looking for a bit of a shortcut to acheiving the mental sate required to project.

if anyones really interested in OBE's and astral travel, i can point you in the right direction

thats the thing, i think the program was suggesting that it was the sound resonating parts of our body at that frequency, that had the desired effect, not brain wave sychronisation alpha wave meditation type things...i dunno

just been having a look about...this was on astralvoyage.com which is a very accurate resource for astral projection related stuff :P

But he said that my emphasis should be on sound. He then said, "do you remember this dream you had about sound vibrations?" and I was then shown a dream I had long forgotten where I was standing by a big jet and the noise from the engine was making me really vibrate. Ironically, my first mental projection was while listening to classical music. Something about some sounds can trigger a spontaneous projection. So here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to make a tape that has some sort of vibrational sound to it (like the OMMM sound, or something similar that causes low reverberations) and tape it over and over until a 60 minute tape is filled. Then, I'm going to connect my sub_woofer* up to my tape player and play this sound while in Focus 10 and see what happens."

she seems to have a similar idea that i have...perhaps there is something to it :|

ahem, I downloaded software a long time ago that had various settings, can't remember them all now but there was stuff for deep meditation and self hypnosis, you might want to have a look around for it?

yeah dude, i think i had the same one... its not alpha wave meditation or brain wave synchronisation that im thinking about, its the effects of your body (brain (?) ) resonating at various frequencies... i found out about some road in scotland that when cars drove over it, becauise of some new surface the road had, the cars and passengers resssonated at a frequency (cant remember what Hz) that made them go kinda trancy, and caused lots of accidents, a few said they knew they were gonna crash, but it didnt seem to matter :P

I recall something abouty military experiments with ultra low frequencys. Benefit: they pass through anything. Problem: they cause loss of bowel control in humans. Oops
