thread seems to be dieing over in books, and I think it deserves a closer look.

Thread links to a CNN article on the book here

The basic jist is Hillary was right, there was a right wing conspiracy to destroy them. And David Brock, one of it's members, has now come clean in a new book. Two other interesting bits. Clarence Thomas was lying, and the Paula Jones trial was a scam.

What are people's thoughts on this? Is there any chance this will get anything resembling real coverage? It's a shame that it came out now. Would have been nice to hold onto the book for another year or so, and release it during election time.

The book has been covered in all the typical places (The New Yorker, Time, Newsweek, etc...) but it doesn't have the strident tone that sells books now. I am amazed that Michael Moore's book is doing as well, but at any moment you can look at the best-seller list and there will be a book about how the Left controls the media...

The Right has done a wonderful job of making themselves seem like the victim when they are the ones running the show. It's so bad that in Bennet's latest book, he runs out of "liberals" to blame the 9/11 stuff on that he pulls up regional leaders I have never heard of (and I read a LOT of news).

The wonderful thing about the book isn't that it exposes horrid things, but that it reads like an apology. When is the last time you ever heard ANY public figure say that they were wrong?

first of all, think i really wanna get hold of this book!

i do have an essay by joan smith on the clarence thomas case, from a feminist perspective, on how the case was neatly turned from one about sexual harassment to racism.

thanks for posting this. i'd missed it in the book section.
