This is inspired by the Deaf Baby thread...

Would you pick and chose the active traits of your unborn child? If so what would you tweak? Sex, skin color, hair type, eye color, height, weight? How about non physical traits? Like intelligence, sexual orientation (although I don't see how just pretend here!) ect ect ect...

How about if they found a way to conceive a child from same sex parents? The option would then be open to create a live with someone you love (and was until then impossible) . Thought's on this?

Personally, the only thing I'd pay to fuck with is intelligence. I want my child to be brilliant!

I would want to take whatever nature and genetics are kind enough to provide me with. I may toy with idea of optioning quietness and diplomacy as inherent character traits but at the end of the day I can't see myself playing god.

The only thing I could really see myself tweaking is gene-linked illnesses, like diabetes. The cosmetic traits...I dunno...if my family had an allele for obesity in the clinical sense, rather than the spandex-a-no-no sense, I'd remove that, but again more for health than aesthetic reasons.

The only things I'd tweak would be stuff like the immune system and kill any chance of the kid inheriting stuff like heart problems, crohn's disease, arthritis, stuff like that. As for physical characteristics? Probably not.

i would like my child to grow to a full height of 7 feet (that's a whole shitload of centimeters for you metric folk!), reach his sexual peak at 219, have thick red skin, shoot laser beams from his eyes, destroy cities by thought and enjoy classical and romantic poetry (for culture's sake).

I would tweak as much as possible intelligence, attractiveness, health, athletic ability, and happiness. I might choose the gender, depending on the situation at the time, but not necessarily one way or the other.

I don't know if the happiness thing has a genetic link, but there does seem to be some biological aspect of happiness that can be detected in very young children.

Anybody really interested in this, who isn't already very wealthy or climbing a stable corporate ladder, should probably get a job at Chromos or any of its contemporaries...

The rest of us will have to settle for being tested for, uh, traits that put a strain on public monies...
