My housemate Julia (who has acutally met quite a number of the London posse) was involved in editing this 4 part documentary and she says that Part 1 (screening this coming Monday) is the best of them. The next three episodes then screen on the following consecutive Sunday nights at 8.00pm.
The films were made by a company called October Films, who produced another gritty series about two years ago called Staying Lost which focussed on homelessness in London, Brighton and Liverpool. They are a highly respected and multi-award winning company.
Part 1 - looks at the lives of a group of prostitutes in Whitechapel and in particular a woman named Stacey.
Part 2 - tackles single parenthood and is titled "The Magical World of Suzie Wardrobe.
Part 3 - explores how being homeless and living in a car affects the lives of a couple and their young son and is called "Petrol Man".
Part 4 - is currently untitled but looks at how unemployment has affected a family living in Ashington, where the coal mining industry upon which the town was based is now dead, but nothing has been done for the people who remain.
I hope this is of interest to people and that you are able to find time to give them a look. It should be well worth your time.
Thanks
