what do you all think about this flic?
I've taken to wearing mod related clothing in public and am looking for some fairly authentic films to show my friends who have no idea what im talking about (try explaining donovan and the strawberry alarm clock to industrial fans) so any ideas would be nice
thanks

Mod flicks, eh? For some reason, "The Krays" comes to mind. If memory serves, it was pretty 60's mod. Strawberry Alarm Clock played as the party band in "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls". I don't know if "Head" is mod per se, but it's got The Monkees & Jack Nicholson.

I listened to the Quadrophenia soundtrack thousands of time before I ever saw the movie, and came to love the soundtrack so much that the visual just seemed tacked on.

Would Barbarella constitute mod at all? Not really sure.

Rather depends which definition of mod you're working off. For fab, groovy, Swingin' 60s London "mod" trie Blow Up with David Hemmings as a photographer who witnesses a murder.

If it's more Quadrophenia Mods 'n' Rockers stuff... we-e-ll, it might be stretching a point a bit but you could check out Tommy.

You should just go rocker, it would be easier to explain and looks way cooler.

Check out a British movie called "Wonderwall" (yes, that's where they got the song from). This nutty old conservative professor discovers there's a hole in the wall of his apartment and through it he can see into this incredible apartment where these swinging mods are always partying and living the new late 60s life.

It's worth watching just for the interior decorating in the film, but the George Harrison soundtrack is pretty fun too.

"you should just go rocker"

doesnt fit my build, if i was gonna be a rocker/punk i would want to be joey ramone, and well, i just aint thin enough
slacks and a jacket is much more flattering on me than tight jeans and a torn t-shirt

Roman Copolla's new film "C.Q." looks both 1) very mod & 2) very funny.

Coppola’s modish debut rivals those of two of his ads ‘n’ promos contemporaries Spike Jonze and Jonathan Glazer. It is as witty as “Being John Malkovich” and as assured as “Sexy Beast.” As a film about filmmaking, it even rivals “Le Mépris” (Godard has had a clear influence on Coppola’s use of color) and Truffaut’s “Day For Night” (with which it shares a similar joie de vivre). “CQ” is also full of the kind of in-jokes favored by the luminaries of the Nouvelle Vague, paying tribute to a host of ’60s camp classics. A love for films shines through each frame and the era is recreated with obvious affection, scored to perfection with some tasty boogaloo beats.-Chris Wiegand-taken from Boxoffice Online

this site has a useful list of flicks to check out (take a look at the past festival listings too). they're not all "mod", per se, but still part of that whole era. (and, music related, this place is great!)

one of my fave pop-mod films is here we go round the mulberry bush.

a lot of the really sharp mod films are italian or french, though.

''As a film about filmmaking, it even rivals “Le Mépris” ''

Seriously doubt it. Hail Godard!! best director in the whole universe!
