walking down 14th street on the way to union sq. was so beautiful.. all these people standing outside of their businesses with candles.. and then when arriving at the park.. it was overflowing with all flickering candles everywhere.. anti-war signs being held up.. a group of buddhist monks stood together..

this should happen everywhere -- it was very powerful. all it takes is a flyer and a copy machine -- distribution.

It was moving. I went with some friends to Washington Square, and then we walked up University to Union Square where we eventually left our candles.

It was good to see people expressing sentiments of peace (something that has been lacking in almost all newscasts here - the only exception being MTV), but there were also one or two disturbing images: A woman hawking t-shirts standing a few feet away from a teenage girl with 'never forget, never forgive' on a hand written sign has become particularly stuck in my head.
