I thought it was fantastic, though I'm not sure I can explain why. On one hand, Donal Logue is a very implausible Casanova, yet the movie struck me as being wonderfully realistic.
I suppose it has a lot to do with the dialogue:
"Do you ever wonder if your love for your spouse interferes with your love for God?"
"Do you ever wonder if your endless philosophizing interferes with you ability to get a life?"
"No, I'm serious. How many people treat God with the same affection they treat their loved ones? How often do people ask God how His day has been, or whether or not he saw Letterman last night?"
"And you do?"
"Absolutely."
"And what did God say?"
"He said he saw it and it sucked." |
