Tried this last time he played, but there weren't too many takers. But I'm not gonna give up.
Alec Empire, DHR head honcho/Atari Teenage Riot frontman/anti-fascist noisemaker supreme is playing again, on April 30th at the Mean Fiddler in London. It's a tenner, and promises to be worth every penny. Just bought his new single "Addicted to You"- it's kind of like a noisy electronic version of "I Wanna Be Your Dog" and is very good indeed.
He was fucking great last time (admittedly, I was very drunk and don't remember a great deal, but I definitely couldn't hear for shit when I got home) and promises to be so again. I think ATR's Nic Endo is gonna be part of his live band again, so there should be some ultra-cool noises happening while the boy Empire pouts and glares.
Anyone interested?

I heard some tunes from his new album on the radio last night and they were the absolute fucking bomb, so to speak.

I'm surely interested in going, though whether I'll be able to or not remains to be seen..

Do it. It will, in the immortal words of Wesley Willis, "rock a snow leopard's ass".

I went to an ATR/digital hardcore gig a few years ago and it was one of the best/most exciting gigs I have ever been to. The one in London, Queen elizebeth hall. Everybody piled onto the stage and started smashing up the equipment with the band. Alec Empire was standing at the mic shouting "start the riot" .I think that if it weren’t a John Peel night, something serious would have happened. I'm gonna get my tickets tomorrow if possible.

Cool. I think a Gathering thread should be started then. And boy, did that Peel gig rock like a bunch of bastards. Being pushed down some stairs.

Alec Empire is amazing. His remix album of Mark Stewart is probably the most brilliant thing I've ever heard.

ATR aren't that good though.

On the whole, I aint going to this gig cos I will get battered.

According to www.digitalhardcore.com "she is a permanent member of my new band". So it looks promising.

Just thought I'd bump this one, what with his new album coming out tomorrow an' all. Remember, kids- a week on Tuesday, one of the coolest things EVER will be happening. And you wouldn't wanna miss that, wouldja? (Or, as I did last time he played, be unconscious for most of the set.)
C'mon! It's ALEC FUCKING EMPIRE! How good is that gonna be? Lots. That's how good. Lots of good.

My friends aren't going, so I won't have car transport, and if I went on the train it would cost money and I'd have to leave before 10pm, plus I've got lectures Tuesday afternoon, so I can't go.

BAH.

Who's up for meeting in a nearby pub beforehand? Doors are at 7, so someone who knows the area pick a spot.

Gonna be a cynic and say his new album has gotta be his commercial selling out album, in comparison to his old stuff. A personal favourite of mine is Death Funk.
EC8OR are mes fave DHR act, anlong with FEVER.

Alec pulled his Colchester gig, which sucked.

I'd love to go but I'm a little bit too far away and don't have neough cash to fly to london for the weekend. By the way he has an album called Alec Empire vs. Elvis which I've only heard a few tunes off.

Weird, I heard Alec Empire for the first time yesterday. I'll have to tell the person who took the CD into the office. Barbelith is full of little helpful bits isn't it.

haven't heard the new one yet, but tomorrows's PAYDAY!!! Oh yes. Straight from work to the record shop in the morning, methinks. The Elvis album is sheer fucking class.
EC8OR, as far as I know, have left DHR and Patric C's started up his own label called (I think) Audio Chocolate, which also has Bomb 20 on it.

I also HAVE to love DHR for (sorry to be self-indulgent, but bear with me) saying nice things about my Patric C "Hitler 2000" review for Freq e-zine, to the effect that if you thought he was a Nazi you should read it, as I was one of the few reviewers that actually got the point. Man, that felt good.
