from this thread

They will offer their unique perspectives on the making of the
Star Wars movies; hopefully the ILM guys will also shed light on their
company’s real masterpiece, the Jurassic Park trilogy.

Going on my assumption that ILM did the original Star Wars trilogy, and wasn't set up afterwards. Which do you think was the greater master peice? Now, let's not get into story, or directing, or anything like that. I mean purely from a special fx point of view.

My gut reaction is Star Wars, but didn't JP take computer fx to a whole new level?

I'm still going with Star Wars as my final answer though.

ILM was born as a result of Star Wars.

Hmm....the sfx of SW or JP? I'm gonna have to go with Star Wars. The stuff ILM did with what they had to work with was amazing.

I would say that Empire Strikes Back is the big special effects masterpiece - that, and the first Alien film. Both look and feel real to me...

I'd say Star Wars. All else is heresy.
