No idea where to put this but here is as good a place as any.
So anywhere there I was at about 3am on Saturday night, discussing the finer points of Motorhead vs the Pink Faeries, I do have mor interesting conversations than this but I and my hosts were drunk.
Then my good friend (though an over enthusiastic 70's and 80's metal fan if you ask me) played me an early Black Sabbath track he'd found on audio galaxy.
The track is called Electric Sleep and is reputed to have been recorded at a pub gig in 1971 (though personally I think it sounds like studio demo played live), now I know audio galaxy isn't the most reliable place to get info and I'm no expert on Sabbath (though my friend is) but it does sound like Sabbath.
So what? Or get to the fucking point depending on how you feel. Well the opening line is:- "Cyberspace got no place in the real world." Now my understanding is that Bill Gibson coined the term Cyberspace.
It's occurred to me that Gibson could have gotten the term from an earlier source that Ozzy may have also seen, of course the track my be much later (though it doesn't sound it), a fake (why on earth would anybody want to?) or could the term cyberspace have been invented by someone who likes to bite the heads off doves.
Is this important? I'm not sure, what are the ramifications? Can anyone shed any light on this? The tracks over there on audio galaxy if you want to listen, it's a good track. |
