Three things collided in my head:
1) I was reading a book entitled "Introducing Chomsky". At one point, I realized that I was angry and wanted to do something about it, but didn't know what that something was;
2) On the local corporate rock radio station, a DJ was pointing out to high school kids that just because they're kids doesn't mean they can't protest being searched for no reason;
3) I already knew Rosa kicked ass, and then she posts from the middle of the goddamn desert about Woomera.
The collision made me want to collect information about activism--all the way from "How To Write To Your Senator" to "So You've Been Pepper-Sprayed"--and distribute it either online or in actual book format.
I can't decide if such a thing would be an encyclopedia-like collection of all the information you might possibly need pushing a liberal anti-corporate agenda, or if it should be a concise listing of the most important tools with no agenda whatsoever, so as to make it more acceptable to disseminate for free at schools and give to Granny (queer or not) for Christmas.
What information might appear in such a work? Might we make a FAQ for would-be Barbelith activists who don't know where to start? What sources should I be looking into? Thoughts? |
