Moderation Issue

Going through the back pages of the Magick, there are quite a few double-posted topics.

Some of those duplicated topics are part of the "Elder Futhark Library," meaning that there's an index thread that links to, presumably, just one of them. So some moderator needs to take some time weeding through them and deleting the excesses.

A few warnings:

It takes bloody ages to do this, as I'm currently discovering. Especially when all you've got is a shitty 56k connection.

Make sure that only one moderator goes through the forum. If you've got more than one doing it, there's a risk that all instances if some threads may get deleted by mistake.

It's probably best to do a few at a time. There's 1,261 threads in Music at the moment, at least half of which are carbon copies of others that were created during the wonky changeover. That's over 600 threads that you'll have to open, choose to delete and wait for confirmation on. You're fellow moderators will probably not be too happy if they turn up to that number of pending moderation tasks.

I can see a slight problem with doing this in Magic. Thread deletion requires one moderator to suggest the action and three others to agree it.

Magic's only got three moderators in total.

OK. Regarding the Music forum.

We can fix the duplicate threads if people are comfortable with a re-import from the old board. WE WOULD LOSE ALL THE NEW POSTS MADE SINCE THE MOVE THOUGH...

As I'm still posting rune threads, what exactly are you considering duplicated. The Elder Futhark Library threads are following the precedent set by the Tarot Library threads with one thread per rune/trump.

Is there a better way people would like me to post the threads?

I'll try and get all the index links sorted out to the proper threads this weekend (if that's something I can do with my new moderator abilities).

TV & Film has also ended up with a few carbon copy threads. Not as badly affected as Music or Magick, and they're more spread out.

I've started pruning them today; seems that the last (oldest) pages of the forum are most affected, but there's a couple here or there. Should be fixed up in a few days, methinks.
