only news because its spring and it's slow news? Sad to say, people go missing ALL THE TIME, and not just in the South East.

Every year, at about this time, a campaign about a young child going missing springs up, usually in the South but not always.

Why?

OK, I'm being cynical, and maybe a bit angry, but I honestly don't get it. Why not cover all the horrible things that are happening everyday? The site I work for as at least assault story a day, even on a 'slow' news day (aka Lazy Journo day)

"but won't somebody please think of the children????"

Yeah, it's a slow news day, as far as the english press is concerned. Obviously nothing else going on in the world which needs attention, is there?

Not to say that this isn't a terrible thing to happen, and I hope the publicity helps, but it's patently being used by the media to associate themselves with photogenic white kids in trouble.
