Hmm, to me anyway, the esoteric and the creative are very close, perhaps more so than I even dare to imagine! IMHO, magickal acts are often spontaneous and creative and work to push further spontaneity and creativity in the individual's life. As an old friend once wrote to me "forget alien alters and rituals;" in other words, to quote Madonna (eek), "express yourself!" Leave the dried and dusty rituals and incantations of others where they belong: in the past. Hoe your own row, ya? Not easy, but IMHO, much more fulfilling!
Note: not to say the tradition isn't of ANY value, but only it appears, to me anyway, of less value than forging your own road.
